Newbie having weird problem with 5.6.55

I've used SWI for some time, just learning Prolog and experimenting.

I have now upgraded to 5.6.55, and get messages like

ERROR: =../2: Type error: `list' expected, found `[chain, tuple(Prolog
Source, *.pl), tuple(Prolog Source, *.qlf)|tuple(All files, *.*)]'

whenever I try to consult/edit/new from the menu.

I removed SWI and reloaded it - same problem..

Tried 5.0.10, and 5.4.7 - no problem with either of these.

I'm using Win XP on a fairly old machine, 1 Gb of RAM.

Am I missing something really obvious?

Thanks

It helps a lot if you tell us when you get this message.  Luckily it
reminded me of something.   You can fetch a new version of win_menu.pl
and use it to overwrite the version in .../pl/library from:

http://gollem.science.uva.nl/git/pl.git?a=blob_plain;f=library/win_menu.pl;h=607b5372a8b850fd68b52e2dd73f58d6f33dd5f0

        Success --- Jan
