New version of PicLens for 2.3There's a new version of piclens lite available for 2.3. Can somebody evaluate it and see if it's ready to go? If it's ready, I can push it live to all G2.3 installs by updating the versioncheck on GMC. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: Cooliris News Date: Tue, 7 Oct 2008 15:46:58 -0700 From: Ron Yeh <ronyeh@...> To: Bharat Mediratta <bharat@...> References: <71881f9c0809261646o5cf5121fxe7d3d80348c276f4@...> Hi Bharat, Here is the current release, which is live on our servers: http://lite.piclens.com/releases/1.3.1.14221/lite/piclens_optimized.js http://lite.piclens.com/releases/1.3.1.14221/lite/PicLensLite.swf http://lite2.piclens.com/releases/1.3.1.14221/lite/piclens_optimized.js http://lite2.piclens.com/releases/1.3.1.14221/lite/PicLensLite.swf It is lighter than the build you're currently deploying, and fixes a memory leak, some small UI bugs, and other minor issues. Let me know if you have any trouble deploying this build with G2.3. If you're also interested in our embeddable solutions--lite or our new wall (http://developer.cooliris.com/embed), let me know. Thanks! Ron On Fri, Sep 26, 2008 at 4:46 PM, Ron Yeh <ronyeh@... <mailto:ronyeh@...>> wrote: Hi Bharat, I just wanted to update you on the goings-on at Cooliris. We're now out of the KP offices, and in a new office at 1895 El Camino. Feel free to drop by to say 'Hi' if you're ever in the area! An Update to PicLens Lite 1.3.1 is currently under test, and we'll need to wait for QA's thumbs up before we release it. In the meantime, you can check it out on my dev server at: http://s2.piclens.com/~ron/lite/piclens_optimized.js <http://s2.piclens.com/%7Eron/lite/piclens_optimized.js> http://s2.piclens.com/~ron/lite/PicLensLite.swf <http://s2.piclens.com/%7Eron/lite/PicLensLite.swf> There are a number of bug fixes, and the package is now 6KB-10KB lighter, depending on which version you are installing in G2.3. One cool new feature is embed mode: http://s2.piclens.com/~ron/lite/test/embed.html <http://s2.piclens.com/%7Eron/lite/test/embed.html> Perhaps this will be useful/interesting to your gallery users. Cooliris for Your Site We recently introduced "Cooliris for Your Site" which allows webmasters to embed the 3D Wall interaction into their galleries. It's currently in Beta, but you can check it out here: http://apps.cooliris.com/embed/docs Anyways, that's it for now. Hope you enjoy our new products! Re: New version of PicLens for 2.3Is there a changelog or a list of added features and fixed bugs such that we can do a targeted QA process?
Is there any change in gallery2/modules/piclens/ ? Any HTML / JS embedding changes required?
I guess we can push this *after* G2.3 (or before), since it's completely independent of G2.3. ...unless the changes in the JS/Flash code require different inputs (like a different encoding (JS / HTML / URL escaping).
But such changes are very unlikely since they usually break backwards compatibility. @Bharat: Can you ask Ron whether there are any changes in the interface (JS escaping, HTML entities, URL encoding, etc.)?
We need this information immediately. And a changelog (see above) would be great as well, but this information can wait. Thanks, - Andy

Re: New version of PicLens for 2.3Bharat,
Looks good to me. I tested it as well as a few users in the forums and we have favorable results.
