New ST-Gtk2 snapshot: alsa-1.x driver

Hi,

doesn't work for me with a M-Audio Delta44 soundcard. When I run a
'test' I have : "Cannot do both mono and stereo!!!"
Or when I am changing for 16bits or stereo, the message is : "Shit
happens...bc2"


Can we hope to run ST with the tracker that displays correctly the notes
& effects numbers ? I can use OSS, but the display doesn't stand for to
make up a song :)

This may mean that your soundcard doesn't physically support both 1 and
2 channel playback (maybe it supports only 4 and more channels). You may
try use more high-level ALSA output plugin like "plughw" or "sw" (it's
better to consult about this in alsa-user maillist); in this case it
will perform software upmixing.

Ok, I'm planning to implement more comprehensive diagnostics soon :)

Well... I understand anything to alsa .asoundrc. ST doesn't give me a
new device in Audio options.

This means you're using proportional font. ST pattern engine works
properly only with monospace fonts. Open font selection dialog and
select some monospace font for pattern displaying.

Currently you should give the device name manually. I'm planning to add
some device selection code (taken from CSound), but this will be useful
only if you have some _hardware_ devices. There is no means to know what
software ALSA devices and plugins you have...

Hum, Did you see when you change the police, the tracker doesn't
refresh ? I must close ST and run again to apply the modification.
