New ERROR in updateDear miktex-users,
I used to have a problem at the end of each update, which says something like "initexmf.exe: the program is being used by another process" (not sure if this is exactly the message to appear, because on my system the message is in Chinese). This problem was reported to the list twice, and I have even filed a bug report for it. Now, after 20080621, at the end of update, the original message did not appear, but a new problem arises: "Error: The operation could not be completed because a required file does not exist." Below is the content of the updatelog (I have downloaded the whole repository and made the update from the local repository): MiKTeX Update Wizard Report Version: 2.7.3092 Date: Sunday, June 22, 2008 Time: 15:13:01 updating package definition directory ("C:\MiCTeX\MiKTeX 2.7\tpm\packages")... installed 1426 package definition files opening repository "G:\MiKTeX Repository\tm\packages"... repository type: local package repository loading lightweight database file... starting package maintenance... installation directory: "C:\MiCTeX\MiKTeX 2.7" package repository: "G:\MiKTeX Repository\tm\packages" DBlight digest: 8dd1bd31991f4d2a14722ccad65d7754 going to install 930 file(s) (15 package(s)) extracting files from miktex-bibtex-base.cab... extracting files from miktex-bibtex8bit-base.cab... extracting files from miktex-doc-2.7.tar.lzma... extracting files from miktex-dvipdfm-base-2.7.tar.lzma... extracting files from miktex-dvipdfmx-base-2.7.tar.lzma... extracting files from miktex-dvipdfmx-bin-2.7.tar.lzma... extracting files from miktex-etex-base.cab... extracting files from miktex-freetype-base.cab... extracting files from miktex-metapost-base-2.7.tar.lzma... extracting files from miktex-xdvipdfmx-bin-2.7.tar.lzma... extracting files from miktex-xetex-base.tar.lzma... extracting files from miktex-xetex-bin-2.7.tar.lzma... Error: The operation could not be completed because a required file does not exist. Not sure if this is a consequence of an effort to resolve the original problem or the update has stopped before it goes to the step when the original problem arises. Re: New ERROR in updateI have been keeping my local repository syncronized with the online ones. I also have experienced a two-step update. The first step went through with the "original problem" appeared at the end. Then after manually executing "initexmf --update-fndb --mkmaps --mklinks --verbose", I made the second step update. Since then the new problem persists.

Re: New ERROR in updateI am sorry to have found that the new update problem was caused by a corrupted oberdiek.tar.lzma file. No signiture was given while downloading it, though. Strange......
