My wife and I are looking for a barge.  The size should be between 16 to 20 meters.  Windows in main salon to be low enough to look outside while sitting down.  Wheelhouse should be big enough for 4 to 6 people without crowding.  The barge should have a walk around master bed.   We would want a clothes washing machine or at least space to install.  We are looking to have a generator on board. two heads(bathrooms w/shower) and a sizeable engine of around 100 to 120 hp.

Regards
Terry and Iris McMahon

Terry,

>Windows in main salon to be low enough to look outside while sitting down.
With a conventional barge with accom in "hold", this will make saloon deck quite high if you are trying to achieve window sill height of 75 - 80cm - same as lounge in a house.    You might need to look for a "deck salon" style vessel.

>Wheelhouse should be big enough for 4 to 6 people without crowding.
That will probably make dimensions in the region of at least 3m x 3m, possibly nearer 3m x 4m once table and seating is included.

>The barge should have a walk around master bed.
On all 4 sides or just 3? - and with mirror above!!!

All fairly standard.

Have you bought The Barge Buyers Handbook which is a good place to start?

Enjoy hunting,
