I wrote a Rich Client Application starting with NB5.0. Currently I'm
How do I configure its initial height?

I've installed portalpack 2.0 and I'am trying to use inter portlet communication (IPC).
Here is a very simple tutorial.
http://portalpack.netbeans.org/tutorials/ipc/IPCStoryBoard.html

The first problem was in portletappengine.jar.
I had to copy it from Sun Portal Server .7.1 distribution. I found it here:
http://developers.sun.com/portalserver/reference/techart/ipc2.html , see chapter Adding the IPC Library to the Project

I've added new library to NB environment and after that I could compile my project.
No, It is possible to deploy it.
Deployment process was successful.
NOTE: I get this in NB OpenPortal Container 2.0 output window:
PSPL_PAECSPPAI0015 : Loading DD for the portlet application : FundTransfer
PSPL_PCCCSPPCCD0023 : Validate sun-portlet.xml: false
PSPL_PAECSPPAI0012 : Portlet Initialized: FundTransfer.
PSPL_PAECSPPAI0012 : Portlet Initialized: AccountBalance_A.
PSPL_PAECSPPAI0012 : Portlet Initialized: AccountBalance_B.
Command deploy executed successfully.
PortalPack Message : Deployed Successfully.

Seems like container can't read xml-file with event properties.

Finally, I can see all three portlets, but they don't use events.
Subject: [nbusers] netbeans, tabs, indentation... again and again

I wonder if we ever, EVER going to get working indentation in netbeans?

I installed 6.1 couple of weeks ago and still have problems with indentation
and tabs/spaces. My settings are: use tabs and no spaces, tab size is 4, and
spaces for indent is 4. And then, for no apparent reason, NB just converts
my tabs to spaces, and "format" option does not help. Then I go to options,
tick "expand tabs to spaces", confirm, go to options again, untick expand
tabs to spaces", confirm, and it works again. I don't mind doing it from
time to time, but when tab size is changed to 8 in html files, nothing
really helps.

Has anybody else got similar problems?

> Hi All
>
> Reposting - Sorry as i did not get any reply for my previous mail, i'm resending my query.
>
> I need to change the file windowmanager.wswmgr to set the size of
> toolbar to small(16) on RCP application startup.
> I'm using NetbeansIDE 5.5 and the default value there is 24.
>
> Following are the different approaches to achieve this and is provided
> in netbeans forums. We tried all these and the first three approaches
> failed.
> 4 option are listed below.
>
> 1. Modifying the branding -
> As mentioned in
> http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.java.netbeans.modules.openide.devel/14929/focus=15058
> Result :- On running the application the toolbar size was large(24).
> Sometime changes to 16
>
> 2. Modifying the windowmanager.wswmgr and registering in the layer.xml
> Result :- On running the application the toolbar size was large(24).
> Sometime changes to 16

you need a dependency on the module where the toolbar is implemented
(core.window i think) to ensure that layer files are loaded in correct
order.

stan

>
> 3. Setting the ToolbarPool.getDefault()
> .setPreferredIconSize(16)
> Result :- On running the application the toolbar size was large(24)
> where as the icons showed was small(16).
>
> 4. Modifying the org.netbeans.core.windows
> .resources.windowmanager.windowmanager.wswmgr and recompiling the
> org-netbeans-core-windows.jar.
> Result :- Works perfectly
>
> *Recompiling of org-netbeans-core-windows.jar*
>
> So(based on Option 4) modified the
> org.netbeans.core.windows.resources.windowmanager.windowmanager.wswmgr
> in the "Core - Windows" module of the Netbeans source code. And
> recompiled the jar(org-netbeans-core-windows.jar) which result in
> consistent behavior of showing small toolbar on deleting(of
> netbeans.user folder) and running.
>
> Original statement in
> org.netbeans.core.windows.resources.windowmanager.windowmanager.wswmgr
> file - line number:24 :-
> <toolbar configuration="Standard" preferred-icon-size="24" />
>
> was changed to
>
> <toolbar configuration="Standard" preferred-icon-size="16" />
>
> Is this modification acceptable according to NetBeans CDDL licence
> agreement?
> What are all the steps i need to ensure for this? Can i bundle the
> recompiled/modified jar in my commercial application?
>
> Modified file is uploaded with this email.
>
> Thanks,

Problem getting getOpenedPanes to interact properly with multiview editors

Suppose I want to display source files for some programming language L in a multiview editor. I then define a second tab showing the corresponding assembler code I generate from the source. I will have a CloneableEditorSupport subclass for the L file type and when I open files of type L within the netbeans IDE (or a platform app derived from it) the getOpenedPanes() call within the CloneableEditorSupport implementation for L will return the opened panes. However, when I call getOpenedPanes using the CloneableEditorSupport implementation for the assemebler files then it only shows the panes that have been directly opened, i.e. it misses out those panes that appear as tabs within the multiview source editor panes.

Now I could change the code that looks for opened assembler panes so that it not only calls getOpenedPanes, but also does the same for the source file from which the assembler file was derived, and from the source panes locate any opened assembler tabs attached to them. But that seems messy. I could make things a bit neater by redefining the definition of getOpenedPanes in the CloneableEditorSupport implementation for the assembler file type to do the same thing, but it still feels a bit messy. Ideally when I use the assembler support class to create the assembler tab associated with a source file it should add the created pane to the set of opened panes associated with this support instance. At present I just pass the support instance as a constructor argument to my subclass of CloneableEditor when creating the assembler tab. Is there some other bit of magic I'm missing that will add the resulting pane to allEditors, which is what I presume getOpenedPanes uses? Or is overriding the definition of getOpenedPanes the recommended way of doing this? Or perhaps the intention is that getOpenedPanes should only return the top-level opened panes associated with the support class and I should define a completely different method to capture what I want? Or is this just a bug...?

> Hi! I have a same problem using betbeans 6.1 (current release version). The
> details of my program are as follows:
>
> 1) create a table client_t
> create table client_t (
> t_user_name varchar(15) not null,
> t_date date not null,
> t_amount decimal(7,2),
> primary key (t_user_name, t_date)
>     );
>
> 2) create a VWP page clitne.jsp, and create Calendar (cldDataSelect), Table
> components (tblDspClient).
>
> 3) "Link" the date of Calendar (cldDataSelect) to t_date; using the session
> bean to pass the sign in user name (username) to t_user_name. i.e. the
> display records of table is changed if the selected date is changed or the
> sign in user name is changed.
>
>

I am not sure which "date" you are talking of here.. Calendar component
does not have a date property.
Also, you can take a look at:
attributes for the calendar accept a java.util.Date
type object as arguments.

-Venky

> 3) some codes as follows:
>
>
> // set cldDataSelect to today if the calendar isn't hitted
>             cldDataSelect.setSelectedDate(cdate.getTime());

I installed 6.1 couple of weeks ago and still have problems with indentation and tabs/spaces. My settings are: use tabs and no spaces, tab size is 4, and spaces for indent is 4. And then, for no apparent reason, NB just converts my tabs to spaces, and "format" option does not help. Then I go to options, tick "expand tabs to spaces", confirm, go to options again, untick expand tabs to spaces", confirm, and it works again. I don't mind doing it from time to time, but when tab size is changed to 8 in html files, nothing really helps.

Hi,
because you are heavily using various frameworks I would suspect them.
Hibernate is using PermGen space a lot and there were several issues
(leaks) related to this. It is usually related to dynamically created
classes. Try to experiment with hibernate.bytecode.provider (for example
<property name="hibernate.bytecode.provider" value="cglib"/>).

I don't think the cause of this is NetBeans IDE. As the temporary
workaround you can increase permgen size for the Tomcat (-XX:MaxPermSize).
> Just curious about how other people develop web apps using NB.
>
> I have JSF pages, with Seam & Spring to tie them to backing beans,
> service beans and model beans.
> The service beans connect (via Spring) to an Oracle DB.
> I'm using Tomcat 5.5.25.
>
> In my every day developing I go like this:
>
> 1) Make a change to something
> 2) Run (or debug) the project
> 3) Do something in my page
> 4) See results
> 5) Identify a problem
> 6) ***STOP TOMCAT***
> 7) *** GO BACK TO 1 ***
>
> This lather-rinse-repeat approach takes forever.
>
> Is there a way to publish modifications without having to restart the
> whole app?
> What kind of modifications require a Tomcat restart?
> I tried keeping Tomcat alive and just running the project again
> (clicking the green arrow), but I get PermGen space exceptions.
>

Well, you could extend current Wait Screen component to support gifs.
Sources are available in project Netbeans MIDP Componsnts
(vmd.components.midp) , inside of this project look at
netbeans_midp_components_basic (folder/project). Just FYI Wait Screen is
based on the SplashScreen component so if you implement it in the Splash
Screen you'll have this functionality in both WaitsScreen and
SplashScreen. If you need help let me know.
>>> emulator, nokia s60 feature pack 2 beta) and also i try it on nokia 6120.
In 6.1 the menu item for the Java DB was moved to the Services window.
You can right-click on the JavaDB node under the Databases node to start
> version with glasfish server, and the glasfish folder is in the same
>
> Anybody know what's the problem? I tried reinstalling Netbeans but that

Hi,

it depends on repository layout. Branches and Tags in Subversion
are slightly different if it's being compared with CVS. (In subversion
they are just directories)
If binaries differ from trunk/branch you will have to create
separate folders for each branch as well. The main purpose of
svn:externals property is that once it's set on versioned directory
then everyone that checks out that folder also retrieves all
directories defined in svn:externals property.
Then all actions (update, commit, ...) will be performed according
to Subversion's administrative directories (.svn - specified Repository
URL)

Hi,

if my understanding is right, then you have to edit svn:external
property each time you create/work on a branch accordingly ? Will you
have to tag/branch the lib folder as well to synchronize it all?

Then checking out the project you can have structure like this

there is "CVS | Search History" action. You can specify the criteria
> that lets you search through the messages of a commit for given

have you tried to restart system? It could help too. Or you can set

It should point to directory where svn binaries are located

Hi Guys,

I'm new here. I have Netbeans 6.1 and had downloaded Subversion 1.4.
Netbeans full is already installed and subversion too. But when I try
to "Checkout" on Versioning -> Subversion I have the error:

1- Install Subversion 1.3 or later...
2- Add it to PATH
3- Test the installation by running "svn --version" from a command line
4- Restart the IDE.

I already did it all except step 2 cus I don't know how to do that. Can
somebody help me?
