Netbeans - ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

ORA-01031: insufficient privileges......I'm getting this error when accessing the indexes tab on a table. Can somone tell me how I should go about fixing this? I'm not executing any sql, I'm clicking the indexes tab after selecting a table. The table is owned by another schema/user but I've been given read rights to it. We just don't know what permissions this JDBC driver is using that it requires to make this work. has anyone had this problem before?

thank you julian. But here is the thing, i already granted privileges to the group and the new user name i use to log in already belongs to this group. The actual problem arises when i try to update or insert a row using 'Dataprovider.CommitChanges()' (in the visualweb application) function with this username. I used the same settings (username and password) in a regular java application, and it seems to work just fine, even with insert and updates. I am wondering if there are any oracle settings for netbeans that i might be unaware of. any suggestions?
