debugger catching exceptions in 6.5beta

Using 6.5beta, Windows XP, with CLDC/MIDP as target environment and Sun
"DefaultColorPhone" emulator. When debugging and a code stub (generated
by the "Create method..." lightbulb option) explicitly throws
UnsupportedOperationException(), the IDE doesn't "gracefully" stop at
the statement. Is there an option to make this work "better" during debug?

"Better" would mean that I could classify that particular exception as a
form of breakpoint. My workaround has been to search my project for all
of the throws and put a breakpoint there, but it's tedious to do that...

A somewhat related issue: this is happening as I "port" some J2SE code
from a project that works to J2ME. I've noticed some times when a null
pointer exception is thrown; the IDE seems to handle those more
"gracefully" in J2SE than in J2ME/CLDC/MIDP. Is this a function of the
emulator's KVM vs. the full-bodied JVM?

I'm new to Netbeans; it's cool. I did look at the archives and the FAQ
(and am still looking), but would appreciate any help.

How to print debug info from a Midlet?

Hej!

I am running Netbeans 6.1 with Netbeans Java Mobile Edition/ME, I have written a small MIDlet for a Sony Ericsson W810. I am using the Sony Ericsson SDK 2.5.0.2 for the Java(TM) ME Platform. In the SDK there is a program called Sony Ericsson Device Explorer where I can deploy my MIDlet to the phone and run it. My problem is that when I start the MIDlet I am using System.out.println to get some debug info and it works, the print out just informs me that a bluetooth connection was established successfully. After this print out no matter what I do I cannot get it to print any more debug information, any suggestion would help, thanks.

Solaris, Mac OS and Linux Microemulator update

I've updated Netbeans Mobility Microemulator Support plugin so it's
possible to use it with Netbeans 6.5. Previous version does not work
with 6.5. Currently there is one version for all 6.x version Netbeans.
It's not very well tested but I don't expect any major problems.

Problem of doing JMUnit testing

since our project is to develop a j2me application, so i guess jmunit is one of the few unit testing framework we can use. (unfortunately we can't use junit at this point)
it is till easy to create jmunit test for every class in our project.
if you have a classA.java, then it auto generates classATest.java for you within the same package.
however, we try to centralize all the jmunit tests , means put all of the test .java into a package.

the reason of doing this is because of the source code that we having now will be kept updating. we will get the updated source from our svn repository. but we should not check in our test files. now i till thinking how should i store my test files. should i store test files alone or with every version of the source code.
if i store the test files with source code, how can i retrieve only test files to be used in the new source code

1 more problem i have is that, the default test suite run tests for every class we have. but i didn't create test for certain classes. so when i execute the test suite in WTK, it complained for noClassFoundException.
so i just wanna know how can include / exclude test case/test suite that i want to execute?

Attaching to localhost Connection refused.

Hi

I know that cross posting is not cool, and I have posted this question here but I haven't had any response so I'm going to try it over here.

I'm completely new to Netbeans and Java ME development. I've been going through the Getting Started With Netbeans tutorial.

I'm using Netbeans 6.1, S60 3rd Edition FP1 SDK for MIDP & JDK 1.6 on Vista.

Everything is all good up until the point that I try to run the application in the emulator. When I do I get the error:

Attaching to localhost:52874 Connection refused.

If I stop and debug again I get a different port number.

I have the Vista firewall switched off. Perhaps Vista is blocking the port numbers. If it is I have no idea how to fix that.

If I deploy the application to a 6110 it runs fine on the phone.

But this time, when i run the application the defaultcolorphone suddenly disappears.

I am surprised, what kind of library the system tries to load. Don't you
have some strange 3-rd party libraries on bootclasspath?
The problem is that com.protocom.sso.javasso.SSOLoginScriptRunner is
trying to load some native libraries (very likely in static initializer
block), but I have no idea, where this class belongs to.

I'm using windows xp and after you noticed about linux path(LD_LIBRARY_PATH), i added C:/WTK2.5.2/bin to my windows path.

I'm still getting the same error but my apllications began to work on emulators (WTK emulators like defaultcolourphone...).

So adding to wtk to my windows path solved my problem but i'm still getting this error:)I wonder why?

Well, this depends how emulator handles your System.out rather than
depend on NetBeans. You can always increase Ant verbosity level in Tools

What emulator are you using? This looks like you are missing some native
library on LD_LIBRARY_PATH so SSOLoginScriptRunner can not load it.

The deal is Java ME uses version 1.4 of Java Language Specification.
You cannot use Java 5 language features.

Hey guys

Just chanced upon this little gem from Nokia and I feel that it is the best thing to have happened for mobile application developers in a long time. Nokia of course is the leader in mobile technologies and its not often that one gets an opportunity to catch their eye.

Well, now for the big story! Nokia has launched a contest for mobile application developers. And the grand prize is distribution of the winning applications for free through a variety of Nokia channels (besides a hefty cash prize and a trip to Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona). What else does one need to get noticed by the big guys of the mobile world and to top it all, get showcased by Nokia.

Cash of course matters but a chance to work with Nokia is simply priceless!

This functionality is available as additional plugin for Netbeans
Mobility 6.1. Currently there is no support for 6.5 but it will be in
near future. Because of the problems with some of the JSR's we've
decided not to include Microemulator support in 6.5 but it will be
available in the NetBeans Plugin Portal as a 3rd party plugin.

Mac and Netbeans Mobility 6.5?

Hi,

"I was able to combined ProGuard and Microemualtor and now it is possible to write, run and debug MIDP application on my favorite OS. This feature is not yet part of the Mobility 6.5 but most likely will be in the final version of incoming release"

What is status about this?
Will it be part of Netbeans Mobility 6.5 and when?

I have been working with phones and PDAs for a while and it is the only Java solution that will actually create the write once run anywhere concept.

You can use Netbeans to create J2ME MIDLets, but Palm does not support a JVM anymore... So you could only port these MIDLets to windows mobile or MIDP capable phones.

On the phone front, things get even more complex if you have a phone that does not support MIDP. Like brew phones (verizon v cast phones)

Really did ur messages go? have you configured some internet protocol or something or just installed the composer example and your messages were going well ?(not well as you say for some mobiles) but you say they are being transmitted. Do you attach some mobile phone with your PC or something?

Please tell me the whole process? I am new in mobile development

How do you get the emulator screen to display a j2me image?

The images in my code are not displayed – is there an emulator parameter that needs to be set to enable graphics display?

Autostart MIDlet Application at Phone Start
