Announcing NetBeans IDE 6.1

Specific release highlights include:

NetBeans™ IDE 6.1 supports a wide range of open source scripting technologies and offers improved performance. This release extends language support beyond Java™ technology by providing a rich set of features for C/C++, JavaScript™ and the Ruby language, including Ruby on Rails.

NetBeans IDE 6.1 also contains all of the improvements made in 6.0 including: the new smarter editor, next generation of the ground-breaking GUI builder (formerly known as Project Matisse), visual mobile designer, integrated profiler, and Java™ EE 5 support.

One of the downloads available is an Early Access preview of support for PHP. Advance versions of new modules, such as a JavaScript debugger, support of ClearCase, AXIS, and Hibernate are available as separate plugins.

It is written that on the 1 of April chosen project will be announced, but now is the 3 of April and there are no announcements.
I've wrote the letter to netbeansgrant@netbeans.org.
I asked to explain the situation.

Please, if it's possible, give any comments:
1. Is it possible to know was my project chosen or not?
2. When we can see list of selected projects? It was written that judges are going to announce them on the 1 of April. It is very interesting to watch development process of the most interesting projects.
3. Is it possible to know why my project hasn't been chosen? Me and my team are students, so it is very important for us to see where we made mistakes and correct them in the future.
We are not going to complain or argue, we just want to get experience based on unsuccessful project proposal.

Seems like project proposals were sent to judges and there is no response.
I would like to have minimal feedback.

Thank you for you attention.
And thank you for giving such great opportunity to participate in interesting competitions.

Dreams of Reality - NetBeans Innovator's Grant Contest

Do you have a dream project idea? Do you know something that is needed
in NetBeans-land? You could be awarded a grant of $11,500 to work on
your open source project!

Sun Microsystems is sponsoring the "Dreams of Reality – NetBeans
Innovator's Grant" contest, and will pay grant money to teams or
individuals with great ideas on how to improve or expand the NetBeans
Project. For full details see the grant page on the NetBeans site :

There are 10 grants for large projects (US $11,500) and 10 grants for
small projects (US $2,000). There is also extra grant money for the
best implementations, extending the grant to more then US $20,000. All
you have to do now is submit your idea and your implementation plan.

Your project can be a module, an application on top of the NetBeans
platform, or even non-code related ideas (like books or translations).
It is your project! The NetBeans Dream Team and the NetBeans Engineers
and Evangelists even suggested a set of cool ideas, take a look and see

NetBeans 5.5 Now Available

		NetBeans.org is pleased to announce the release of NetBeans IDE 5.5 FCS together with Mobility Pack FCS, Profiler Pack FCS, Enterprise Pack FCS, C/C++ Pack (Beta3) and Visual Web Pack (Technology Preview). This NetBeans release supports the Java Enterprise Edition 5 platform, and most notably the Java Persistence, EJB 3 and JAX-WS 2.0 specifications. It is easy to install and use, works right out of the box -- and it is open-source and available at no cost!

		The NetBeans.org website has been redesigned so it is friendlier. We made it easier for you to download code and find all the info you need. We focused on the home page, the products page, and the overall download experience. Phase 2 of the redesign will focus on the community pages. Let us know if we have hit the mark or not. We welcome all feedback and suggestions!

October 26th was NetBeans' eighth birthday, and a lot has happened in these eight years: NetBeans was downloaded over 11 million times, 500,000+ people subscribed to the mailing lists, and over 120 partners are using NetBeans IDE and the Platform.
