Need to redefine BIGINT to INTEGER...

We're targeting DB2 on os/390 and the version of DB2 that they have does not support BIGINT column types- is it ok to re-define the columns as  INTEGER (max value +/- 2,147,483,648) - what's the risk?

Could someone please comment -

Thanks,
James

Maybe a different question then:

Would anyone comment/clarify on why the date/time related fields are implemented as large INTEGER values in the database (i.e. BIGINT) as opposed to more common TIMESTAMP types?  I'm getting grilled on this and need some help here...

The time stored as UNIX timestamp (sec. since 01.01.1970).

May redefine the data type and write your own DriverDelegate.

BUT: Modifications of quartz table structure are not supported.
