Folks,
   The Binary and Demo artifacts for the 2.5.1 release have been created and we need assistance from the community in verifying this can be built and deployed

These are the various combinations we need reviewed:

*         Demo - Win

*         Demo -  Mac/*nix

*         Binary - Win

*         Binary - Mac/*nix

These can be found at http://source.sakaiproject.org/release/2.5.1/

Please let me know if you can be of assistance,

Thanks!
Megan

Hi Mega,

Have tested the demo on my Macbook Pro. I get this error on startup:
WARN: Sql.ddl: missing resource: hsqldb/sakai_search_parallel.sql
(2008-07-22 21:36:00,781 main_org.sakaiproject.db.impl.BasicSqlService)
ERROR: Failed to check transaction table  (2008-07-22 21:36:00,783
main_org.sakaiproject.search.transaction.impl.TransactionSequenceImpl)
java.sql.SQLException: Table not found in statement [select txid  from
search_transaction]
        at org.hsqldb.jdbc.Util.sqlException(Unknown Source)

It complains a few more times but then starts up. Created a user,
created a site, logged out and in, posted a few things. All seemed ok.

I note that the Discussion tool is still in the Mercury site (there
was a Jira about this) and it throws a number of stack traces. Is this
suitable for a demo pack where people download it to try it out?

Haven't had a chance to do the binary yet. Maybe someone else has
though :)

cheers,
Steve

This is:

http://jira.sakaiproject.org/jira/browse/SAK-13771

and Ian says it won't be fixed.

Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the assistance!   It looks like the Discussion/Mercury issue is http://bugs.sakaiproject.org/jira/browse/SAK-13842

Do I think that this is acceptable for a demo version?  No but I don't think it's something to hold the 2.5.1 release up since it existed in 2.5.0. That said, I would like to see it fixed soon - is there someone in the community that could take on the resolution of this bug?

Megan

I can confirm that the sakai-src-2.5.1 artifact builds, deploys and
runs in Tomcat 5.5.26.

http://source.sakaiproject.org/release/2.5.1/sakai-2-5-1/sakai-
src-2.5.1.tgz

Testing involved

fresh install of Tomcat 5.5.26
fresh MySQL sakai db 5.0.51a
empty .m2/repository
Mac OS X 10.4.11

I'd appreciate it if someone in the community would try out the zip
version:

http://source.sakaiproject.org/release/2.5.1/sakai-2-5-1/sakai-
src-2.5.1.zip

with a clean Tomcat 5.5.26, new sakai db (you choose the flavor), and
empty .m2/repository.

I'd like to confirm in the case of the src zip artifact that someone
new to Sakai can build, deploy and run it in Tomcat against an
initially empty repo.

Cheers,

Anth
