Native LG Apps and normal Linux apps...

Hi all, this is my first post :)
I use Ubuntu Edgy and Looking Glass runs superb on my Linux Box.
I only have a few questions I can't understand from any document around. LG seems to be not customizable at all. If I open the disc program, I cannot find a way to change the discs available from there and even clicking on a disk means nothing: nothing happens. Same for the backgrounds: How can I add my own? As for games, what's the emaning of Pong and the other game? Pong plays by itself, I don't get it.
I opened a lot of demos too.... there are all those spheres and cubes or Phisics demos wich do nothing at all except moving alone. The meaning? Showing off possibilities of LG? For example, the phisics Tutorial (Why tutorial? This thing doesn't look like teaching anything...) with the two doxes and a bar on the center just moves at start and then stays still. There's no way I can move the boxes... is this the way it is meant to be?? Why?
And how can I run a Linux application? From launcher or from terminal? But if I have to launch an app, I must know the exact command wich is impossible for a lot of people using Ubuntu (Not for me, ok, I know the commands for a lot of apps but I don't get what is this meant for)... also, I cannot remember all the apps I've got installed, isn't there a way to browse my installed apps with a menĂ¹ like that of Gnome?
Another little think I noticed. I run on a Laptop but there's no battery control anywhere.... Hey, I'm not complaining. keep it clear in mind :)
It is just that I don't get how can I do all of this things and if it is a too early stage for me to hope this things can be achieved at all without a terminal or a launcher :)

Another question. Is it possible to add icons to the 3D desktop? Maybe with the launcher?

Looking Glass is really promising, I allready guess allmost everything I'm asking is like I allready figured out: impossible to do because it is an early stage :) Though I think Looking Glass is really something to keep an eye on, It s also someway usable, even if not completely... Very nice environment boys (I cannot define LG any differently than environment... dunno if it is a right definition)... Keep doing the good work, I'll support you for sure showing LG to anyone I can!! Byee.......
