Hi All,

I am setting up some new boxes with drbd 8.2.6 and wonder if it os
possible to use "named device nodes" instead of numerical ones.

I have systems running with the following setup:

OS gentoo
drbd 7
devices names in drbd.conf are like "/dev/drbd/www1"
udev rules exist, which create a symlink from /dev/drbdX to  /dev/drbd/wwwX.

The new system (Debian Etch, drbd 8.2.6) is not creating the device
nodes on boot, therefore the symlinks do not appear and when the drbd
init script executes, it complain about missing devices.

As far as I understand, in drbd8 the nodes are created by the init
script and no longer during kernel init.

Is there a chance to do it the old way, as named devices ease
maintenance a lot for me.

Oliver
