I hope this isn't an inappropriate post, but every time I see the  
notice of a NYCJUG meeting, I wonder, aren't there any (enough) J  
users in California, specifically the SFBay area that could form a  
SFBayAraeaJUG?  As good as the J forums are, a local user group where  
one could interact personally would be so nice.

I guess we have a similar situation with J as we had with APL 30 years ago
with a slowly growing J community here and there.
It would/will be very nice to have more of these meetings and I really hope
more and more places will reach a critical mass to have meetings.

It would also be nice to see results from those meetings.

The Forum tends to be a bit too technical and I am sure the people attending
the meetings have interesting stories to tell.

I went to an Agile meeting yesterday.

They seem to attract clever people just like APL does and they seem to be
growing slowly.

Ben,

I was hoping that some others would chime in and we could have an
occasional get together. I've sat and chatted about with another
person here in the Santa Cruz area. Eugene McDonnell might
participate (he lives in Palo Alto) and as you say, surely there are
some others in the bay areas. There have been a few j talks at the
APL Bayarea User Group - but that group hasn't had a regular meeting
in several years....

Are there any others who might be interested in this?

I'm down in Irvine and was just through Santa Cruz last month.  I'll be
heading north again to visit
Kings Canyon and complete my collection of great California trees:
Bristlecones, Redwoods, Sequoia's.
A little J gathering on the side would interesting.

If you're enthusiastic, you can also talk about J on computer-related
meetings with other topics.
