NTLM authentication issues with Internet ExplorerI am trying to set up Scarab .21 to use NTLM authentication on RedHat 5
following the setup instructions found in at http://www.solitone.org/scarab-trunk-doc/howto/windowsdomain-howto.html After I got NTLM running I was able to use it to login to Scarab using the browser Internet Explorer. However, I encountered a problems when trying to enter an new issue or performing an advanced search. When trying to enter an issue I would complete all the attribute fields and press the "done" button which would refresh the screen and then all the attribute fields were empty and the issue was not entered. The same thing happens when searching for an issue, the returned results are empty. Next I tried to enter and search for issues using Firefox and it worked just fine. Issues were created and searches returned results. I then turned NTLM off and was able to enter and search for issues using IE. My question is if anyone has seen the same behavior and is there a way to fix it? RE: NTLM authentication issues with Internet ExplorerI've seen similar issues. I was running Scarab under Tomcat 5.0 with
Windows Server 2003, so I doubt this has anything to do with linux. Rarely, I've seen this issue (or similar issues) with IE6 and IE7 without NTLM authentication enabled. I haven't figured out how to reproduce the issue. Scarab will usually throw me back to a login prompt, and refuse to continue from there. Typically, closing all instances of IE resolves the issue. http://www.nabble.com/Issues-cannot-be-saved-when-working-with-IE-t35041 29.html#a9828002 I was eventually forced to turn Windows authentication off. _______________ Jeremy Gaither -----Original Message----- From: Sieroslawski, Glen [mailto:glen.sieroslawski@...] Sent: Wednesday, November 07, 2007 10:50 AM To: users@... Hi Glen, I have a similar setup, and have experienced problems with IE. I did not try disabling it NTLM, but Firefox does work flawlessly. RE: Re: NTLM authentication issues with Internet ExplorerJason,
I agree with you, Firefox works great with NTLM turned on. Unfortunately for me, most of my users access Scarab with IE and I don't believe I could get them all to switch. I do appreciate your responding. gs -----Original Message----- From: Jason Sweat [mailto:jason.sweat@...] Sent: Thursday, November 08, 2007 7:59 PM To: users@... RE: RE: NTLM authentication issues with Internet ExplorerJeremy,
We'll probably have to keep NTLM turned off as well. I was told there's a Scarab development email group, I'm going to send this issue to them to see if they know about this and if there is a solution, or maybe they can put it on the list to fix. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks, gs -----Original Message----- From: Gaither, Jeremy [mailto:jeremy.gaither@...] Sent: Wednesday, November 07, 2007 7:47 PM To: users@... Re: Re: NTLM authentication issues with Internet ExplorerWe'll have a look at it, please report it in Scarab tracker and in the dev's list, just in case anyone can take it.

Re: NTLM authentication issues with Internet ExplorerHi Glen,
I have an issue having NTLM authentication work with scarab .21 on Windows server 2003 Enterprise edition. I have done the following: I want to integrate the authentication process on scarab with the active directory i.e. the user enters the same credentials as his network username/password to log into scarab. I have made the following changes: 1) I included filter in the web.xml as follows <filter> <filter-name>NtlmHttpFilter</filter-name> <filter-class>jcifs.http.NtlmHttpFilter</filter-class> <init-param> <param-name>jcifs.resolveOrder</param-name> <param-value>*,*</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>jcifs.http.domainController</param-name> <param-value>domainip</param-value> </init-param> <!-- always needed for preauthentication / SMB signatures --> <init-param> <param-name>jcifs.smb.client.domain</param-name> <param-value>domainvalue</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>jcifs.smb.client.username</param-name> <param-value>someusername</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>jcifs.smb.client.password</param-name> <param-value>password</param-value> </init-param> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>NtlmHttpFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> 2)Under Xdocs, I changed few values. The changes were as follows: a)I changed the 'scarab.login.ntlm.active' default value to "true" b)I changed the 'scarab.login.ntlm.domain' default value to "domainname" 3) I stopped the Tomcat, restarted it. After these changes it still doesn't allow the NTML authentication. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me resolve this issue....... Thanks.. FYI:

To forum admin. NTLM authentication issues with Internet ExplorerHi,
I think it would be the best if skulin@... was removed from distribution lists. The below email just says that his new address is skulin@.... I was trying to reach skulin there but he hasn't responded.
