Re: NABO and Broad BeamI Note that NABO have had a rethink and changed their policy on broad beam
boat licences. In a letter to BW they say:- "After further deliberations and consultation, NABO feels it would be inappropriate to recommend any surcharge based on craft beam at this stage, and certainly not the simplistic £50 per boat wider than 2.1 metres." Many thanks to those members writing to NABO about this. Not the end of the issue, but good news. That's typical NABO though, still on the fence and not entirely objecting to the idea Mike Mike and Krystyna Wooding db Janna http://www.janna.org.uk nb Draco ------------------------------------------------- Visit http://www.barges.org for info, events, to buy and sell barges or equipment. ------------------------------------------------------ You can manage your records yourself, including unsubscribing and retrieving lost passwords at http://www.barges.org/newsgroups#maint |

Re: NABO and Broad BeamThere's a long discussion of this topic on the canalworld forum (
http://tinyurl.com/46wvkc ) which largely gives a narrowboat view of the debate, with some interesting points. By and large most contributors seem to agree that footprint shouldn't be the basis for charging but length is not unreasonable.
