MySQL Embedded status

So as I'm sure some of you know, we've been having problems with MySQL
in Amarok trunk. Thanks to a patch from the Debian maintainer, it
looks like things are in good shape now though.

Compiling Amarok with MySQL is still difficult; see the other thread
if you have trouble there.

However if you've successfully built Amarok trunk and have trouble
running Amarok or building its collection, we want to know about it. A
couple of days ago that describes about half of everyone easily. But
now your a unique butterfly and we need to know about the issue so we
can have a smooth beta2 release.

Thanks,
Ian

Does "slow" collection building count? And by "slow" I mean the exact
same speed as with the previous database backend. There's only 10GB of
files being indexed.

Out of curiosity, do you have lots of .pls or .m3u files in your tree?
If so, can you try removing them (temporarily via rsync with suitable
include rules if they are important) and does it speed up. I've found
that m3u file parsing really slowed things down in the past, but I've
not been able to do any suitable benchmarks of late, so this could be a
total red hering.

10 gb is pretty small. I don't think anyone was saying small
collection users would notice a speed up.

You might have to wait a very long time for that, unless you actually
tell us what the heck needs to be patched. The whole report has
"fuzzy" written all over it.

You keep referring to something that Scott Wheeler allegedly fixed in
Amarok 1, but where is that patch?

Your the programmer, ask the correct questions..  I faithfully report crashing only to further support/help and make Amarok better.   I answered each and every response in the bug report and will continue to help in any manor.  I am not a C programmer and it is not always obvious to me what else to provide.  You have to help me help you, and I'm happy to do it!!  My collection size has discovered many bugs in the past and now that Amarok 2.0 has evolved to this state I was hoping to once again contribute in that fasion!

Thanks
Andy

Thank you for the statement of support. However, you  missed the question. I also do not see any patch against amarok. This is not an amarok bug. According to the (closed) bug 161721, Scott posted a patch (to kde) which he had committed. This is still valid in KDE, and hence Amarok 2.0 does not need to be patched. Amarok 1.x was never patched either, just to be clear.
