Title: Database Administrator (MySQL)
As a database administrator, you will be responsible for database operations and performance, managing the database schema, creating and maintaining the data dictionary, ensuring data integrity and providing reporting data to business users. We are looking for someone with several years experience as a DBA and with the desire to focus on the database architecture and application development area. You will also monitor system health and performance, as well as be an on-call person for database issues.
Requirements:
3+ years hands-on experience with MySQL and SQL Server database administration application development
Experience in SQL database development
Good knowledge with reporting tools such as MS Access, Analysis Services and Reporting Services
Must have significant experience & ability to design for performance, and to perform root cause analysis for performance issues.
Must have experience with, and ability to perform failover in high availability MySQL and SQL Server environments by using log shipping, replication and database clustering.
Must have experience with, and ability to act as a database development architect and as a technical resource for software engineers
Must have experience with, and ability to support software engineers on high performance database schema design and data modeling, as well as optimizing queries
Must have experience with, and ability to evaluate existing database schema, structures and recommend improvements
Must have DBA experience managing MySQL and SQL Server in production/QA/dev environments including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades and schema changes, etc.
Must have experience with, and ability to quickly diagnose server problems and employ preventive measures to maintain high availability servers
Must have experience making decisions or recommendations on resolutions in critical down time situations
Must have experience with, and ability to develop and monitor backup and recovery processes
Must have experience generating reports. Must have ability to support business needs by translating department requests for reports into well-formed, optimized SQL queries
Must be familiar with a source control system such as CVS, Subversion, ClearCase, or similar systems.
Must have some experience working in a structured environment with a defined software development process.
Must have strong communication skills, verbal and written.
Must have significant experience working in a team environment.
Must have experience working with customers – both external and internal
