A report on a landline phone substitute for those with extra-landline
bandwidth who are tired of paying all those ancient taxes.
I heard about this by chance and kept taking steps - been using it
satisfactorily for about 6 weeks (obviously redundantly). It has its small
quirks, and may not be for everyone, but has been taking care of extended
local/LD/fax for me over bbnd cable with a smile.
Basically $47 for a *small* USB gizmo on 30d moneyback. Then 1 yr free
service, after that $20 yr.

(Incidentally the NYT Business Section had a rundown today on shrinking
landline base.)
