Mix and combine....Most likely?

Hi there,
   I don’t know if any one can help me here but I’ve been trying for a few days now to create an excel worksheet that will select the most likely results from a list of possible results

 Let me explain a little more!

I came across this here website today and it says that excel does not support a mix and combine operation in its worksheet, which means that I cannot do what I want to do with excel which is…..

 I have 3 possible results from a football match, which are WIN, LOSE, or DRAW
If I add a another football match to that equation I add another possible three results WIN, LOSE or DRAW. Etc. etc.

 Now, being a betting man, if I predict the correct results of both games, the return could be substantially more that just predicting one game.  Yet the possible combinations of these 2 games are 9 if I’m not mistaken

Win  win
Win draw
Win lose
Draw win
Draw draw
Draw lose
Lose win
Lose draw
Lose lose

Now after reading this website earlier I found an add-on that can give me all the possible combinations of a set of results, but the question is, can this add-on give me the most likely results, from most likely to least likely. For example….

If I have the bookmakers odds  to hand lets say;

Game 1
home team  145%  chance of winning
Both teams to draw  54%
Visiting team  28% chance of winning

Game 2
Home team 120%
Draw 60%
Visitors 38%

Most likely results are;

     Game 1                game 2
1  Home win             home win
2  home win              Draw
3  Draw                     Home win

Etc. Etc.

My point is that this add-on can give all the possible combinations of  two set of results, but can it give the most likely combinations if it has information inputted that states the likelihood of certain results?

I hope ive made sense here! if not, then please ask what the heck im talking about!

Many thanks….

I understand what you are trying to do, but the short answer is that this add-in can't do it for you.

You want to calculate the % number for each combination of the win-draw scenario, you can do it by using a matrix, for example, the horizontal row for game2, and vertical column for game1, and calculate the chances in the intersecting cells. But that will work only for 2 games.

If you want to do more, I think you will need to program it by writing some custom VBA code.
