A completely new way to use BibTeX with LaTeX. It uses a single bst
> I would recommend that you create an error trace:
>
> \\live.sysinternals.com\tools\dbgview.exe
> latex --trace=error,config,process file.tex

Too late. At this moment, I am already un-installing MiKTeX. If, after
re-installing it, the problem persists (which I doubt), then I will
follow your suggestion.

Hello all,

I'm currently trying to get to grips with synctex for PDF production. I
notice that MiKTeX produces gzipped synctex files. The viewer I'm
trying (TeXWorks) doesn't seem to like the compression. Is there a way
to automatically produce non-compressed sync files, or should the viewer
expected the compression?

The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbols List is a good place to look for a
particular shape. The
name of the package is "comprehensive".

You can also search the Windows fonts folder for the shape you need.
Xe(la)tex may allow you to
use a symbol found in a system font directly (generally as a text
font, so in a \mbox for latex), or
you can try to make the font available to LaTeX.

If all that fails, look for the symbol in a book or paper and put a
scanned image (.png) on the web where we can
view it.

However, I just discovered that there are no version of these fonts for small letters. Any mathcal font with small letters in arguments produces a weird symbol not as neat as the capital letters. I searched in the AMS documentation about what font I could use to make an equivalent of the mathcal capital letters in small letters, but found nothing. Would anyone know what font to use to make an equivalent of the mathcal capital letters in small letters?

Thank's alot
>> Routinely, about every hour, I must simply shut Yap down, unable to deal
>> with the bug "The MikTex core directory has not been initialized". I
>> think that files with images hang Yap. But it happens on all my papers
>> that used to compile well with 2.5 or before. Is there a solution for
>> this critical error? I know I am not the only one, as my colleagues at
>> Georgetown and Toronto have resigned themselves to this new lameness.
>>
>
> Many other users don't have such problems, so we need to determine what
> is different about your documents.
>
> YAP uses ghostscript to render EPS files. Recent versions of ghostscript
> are less accepting of bad PostScript. You can check your files for some
> common problems using EPStool.

Thanks for the feedback, but I am still at a loss. I have determined
that this issue does not depend on image files. I have a simple file,
tex only, nothing fancy, and it just occurred:

MiKTeX Problem Report
Message: The MiKTeX Core library has not been initialized.
Data:
Source: C:\work3\miktex-2.7\Libraries\MiKTeX\Core\internal.h

Does this Christopher Columbus error message help?

Thanks, Lones

Miktex is a windows system (that I am using with great satisfaction under
windows) but it has the tools that can be installed under unix. As Latex
distribution I am using texLive (included in Fedora). This just to clarify,
soma points.
Coming back to the original problem, I did make install even a couple of
times. How do I check that the library is on the file system?
Thank you.
> >
> > Last I checked, mikTeX is a Windows system. Windows systems do not
> > work on Linux systems. Please choose a linux product for your linux
> > system
> >
> Miktex ist also available on Linux and thus is a linux product.
>
> >> I am trying to install miktex tools on a fedora 9 system. I followed the
> >> instruction on the web page. But when I am trying to call mpm I get the
> >> following error:
> >> "mpm: error while loading shared libraries:
> >> libMiKTeX207-packagemanager.so.1: can not open shared object file: No
> such
> >> file or directory".
> >> I tried to run ldconfig, but it did not work (or maybe I did not run it
> in
> >> the proper way).
> >>
> >
> Did you run "make install"
> Have you checked tht such a libary is on the filesystem?
>
