Memcache critical issues blocking D6 upgrade

At the moment there isn't much coordination between cacherouter and  
memcache. If cacherouter were made in a pluggable way that could  
simply absorb new caching modules and route between them it would be  
easier to coordinate. I don't know if this is the case.
