Hi Nick,

I made some progress with the canvas abstractions for Max5 (see  
screendump). I also implemented the text features I mentioned in my  
last post to the JMSL list. (Other macros (e.g. for drawing commands  
or complex text positioning) could also be added if there was an  
interest).
I have several questions:
1. Do you think it's useful to also place playback controls in the top  
part of the canvas window?
2. If you look at the score a bit closer you see an artifact of the  
transcription algorithm that will probably need some attention.
I was transcribing spectral data in 32nd note resolution  
(addBinaryBeatDivisionScheme 1 8). The first half of the third measure  
of staff 1 contains an extra 32nd note (and the beam doesn't include  
the entire quarter-note group on beat 4, but I can live with that).
