We got thrashed really bad last night guys, and I'm sure none of us enjoyed it.

Obviously we didn't play to out maximum potential but to be honest, it'll take us a bit of time to catch up to Vincent's Team's level when it comes to the bigger sized pitches because they have more experience on those pitches and they know how to spread the play and pass the ball. And most importantly they have the teamwork.

Teamwork is something we don't have yet, and that's because we don't have a fixed squad of players. That is why we're going to use this month to recruit players to fill in our gaps and that can come regularly.

We're also going to let some of our players go if the commitment is not there. Obviously, if one of us really cant make it due to work, banquets or are not in hk etc etc, it's understandable, but if the reason is because it's far, I'm not sure that's a valid excuse because some of us live far away and we still put in the effort to be there (eg: Ken, he had to go all the way back to Shenzhen for business after our summer league game and last night's game and I don't see him complaining)

As of last night's game, I think we didn't do too bad considering the situation, and we certainly didn't deserve to lose 6-1. Our passing needs to be alot quicker. So let's move on to the next game (which I'm not sure when it'll take place yet) and try to learn from our mistakes and improve on them.

We did create a few chances up front, but we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net (which is never a guarantee), so it's good to see that we created chances in a game that was so dominated by them.

One last thing, when I post the match details on this forum I expect people to reply to say whether they are coming or not, because I don't see the point in posting this and then having to call everyone afterwards. Jon, Tony and I already do all of the hard work, don't make things harder for us because of your laziness.

i sprained my ankle really bad within 5 minutes into the game and i felt really bad watching helplessly as we lost 6 goals [1 own goal] for the rest of the time there. im sure we all feel that we didnt deserve to lose to that extent, so lets blame it on the rain :)

there is a fine line between just playing footy for fun and playing really seriously, but one thing's for sure as elton said, we need a solid core team that can mesh together well. i'm sure when we do, we'll improve our game and team spirit rapidly.

Elton

I totallaly agree,....we definitely need a stable team......or at least the defence line.....
If you didn't notice, every game we have 3 different defenders at the back....
the game b4 this one we had jon, kelvin and jeff. This game it was me, Manson and the dislocated shoulder guy. And I can guaranteed next game will most likely be different too.

We talked about recruiting defenders so Jacky brought along people that started off as defenders for the first 20mins and eventually became midfiedlers and forwards and eventually all over the place. So I was forced back from being Centre forward to LSB. But it was a good experience coz I could see clearly what was wrong with the team and understood why we couldn't pass the ball around.

First of all the team was out of formation especially in midfield.
From my observations the two defensive midfiedlers seem more like Offensive midfielders to me.
They were always so eager to rush forward all the time to help out up front. But obviously it didn't work coz we didn't score a lot of goals but instead we conceded a lot of long range goals because our defensive midfielders were not there to defend them.
It seemed to me Ken was the offensive midfielder and Elton was the defensive midfielder.
I always saw Ken inside the box and jeff on the wing area. So basically this actually forced Elton to fall back a little and he practically took on a defensive midfielder role more than offensive. Ken and jeff was always further up the pitch than Elton, They practically switched positions. When I was defending the curly hair number 7 liverpool dude I expected either jeff or Ken to be helping. But in the end it was Elton that helped me chased him down.

So for next game it would be a good if everyone sticked to thier role and POSITION and do what they do best. This will let the attacking players attack with more confidence and more freely without having to worry too much and rush back even if they do lose the ball upfront, coz they know that their defensive teammates will be there to defend the counter attack.

Remember there is no need to rush upfront and attack. I would like all of us next game including the forwards to fall back behind half court and make simple passes at the back for the first 20 minutes instead of everyone rushing up. If we successfully defend and pass the ball round after the first 20mins without conceding then we can start to think of attacking.

I'm not saying making runs and sprinting down the flanks is a bad idea, but realisticly from what i saw 9/10 times the most likely outcome after that tiring run is that even if u do receive the ball up front is that other teamates wont be able to keep up to help you and eventually you lose the ball your legs are too tired to come back to defend.
REMEMBER One goal is enough to win in which we got and scored with our offensive midfielders doing what they should be doing by providing the assist, but conceding six goals makes it useless. So it would make sense if we started improving on our defensive side of the game, and a good area to start would be defensive midfielders to fulfil their duties as well and help defend in midfield and at the back first b4 thinking of attacking.

These are just my personal thoughts and opinions. If you have a problem with it then say so right here...this is the whole purpose of this forum!
