> > Hello
> >
> > I try to use the print function for example by founir Mapfish.org.
> > I joined the mail 3 files:
> >    map.js configuration layers
> >    devel.php: Homepage
> >    print.js: plugin print
> >
> > I have an error in execution:
> > return new types [config.xtype | | defaultType] (config);
> > types [config.xtype | | defaultType] is not a constructor

Hello Yves, I am happy to help.

The following are my general steps to get geology to display in the
layer tree (starting at the beginning to help people just starting out
in this open source stuff):

I either used qgis or ArcMap to create a MapServer mapfile of
the
geology symbology (cannot remember, its been a while)

Imported the geology shapefile into PostGIS

Added a geology layer in the mapfile. (paritally shown below,
hope it helps. To answer your question, I used Class not Group)

Called the layer in MapFish. MapFish formated the layer for me
using the WMS legend creator. Please see my index.html and
c2cCreateMap.js as I had problems getting the WMS legend to work with
toolbars!

One of these days, maybe when I get done with school next summer, I
will look into creating a script like Legend Limiter that I use in
ArcMap.  Legend Limiter
(http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=15154).
Legend Limiter
does just what you are talking about, only displays the visible
geologic units in the legend. I might try to contact the author of
Legend Limiter and make it a joint project as I am not a programmer.

I also reproduced (further below) the portion of c2cCreateMap.js that
creates the Layer Tree with comments that you want to read

Portions of the mapfile to give you the general idea:

Hi Andrew,

I'm not going to answer your questions but rather ask you some ;-). I
found it interesting how you got the legend to show for the New Mexico
layer. Did you do that using groups in the mapfile ?

One of our customers wants One Geology layers and we programmed an
InfoButton on those layers, short of being able to show a legend. But
when legends get big, I think it would be better to show them in a
another Ext pane somewhere. Too bad this is WMS because the really neat
thing would be to click on a legend item and get to show only those
types on the map (or conversely click on the map and get the proper
legend item to highlight).

TIA,

Hello Group,

I am in the process of projecting all layers to EPSG 900913 (spherical
mercator) so that my WMS layers align with google base layers. So far,
the Geology, Amigo, and Water Wells layers align fine. I also got the
google geocoder to center the map properly. But I am having difficulty
getting the search marker and USGS topographic map layers to display. I
will only address the site marker issue at this time.

The projected web map with the PROBLEMS is at
http://webmap.rthicksconsult.com/index_prj.html
The ORIGINAL unprojected web map (the original map that displays topos
and site marker) is at http://webmap.rthicksconsult.com

I am not sure if the issue is in my MapServer map file, the
map.addLayer(), or somewhere else.
The MapServer mapfile is reproduced below. I passed the lat/long
variable both is epsg 900913 and 4326, this made no difference. I also
have an alert box pop up to verify the coordinate transformation when
the submit to location button is activated.

Thank you for the help.

Hello Yves, I am happy to help.

The following are my general steps to get geology to display in the
layer tree (starting at the beginning to help people just starting out
in this open source stuff):

I either used qgis or ArcMap to create a MapServer mapfile of the
geology symbology (cannot remember, its been a while)

TIA,

I am not sure if the issue is in my MapServer map file, the
map.addLayer(), or somewhere else.
The MapServer mapfile is reproduced below. I passed the lat/long
variable both is epsg 900913 and 4326, this made no difference. I also
have an alert box pop up to verify the coordinate transformation when
the submit to location button is activated.

Thank you for the help.

> Thanks everyone for the help while I was building the template at
> http://webmap.rthicksconsult.com. Maybe this map can be add to user
> applications (http://trac.mapfish.org/trac/mapfish/wiki/Users)?
>
> I will be improving this over time. The one big problem is the
> projection that Google uses, Spherical Mercator. My MapServer layers do
> not align. I switched projections (as defined at
> http://trac.openlayers.org/wiki/SphericalMercator AND
> http://spin.mohawkcollege.ca/courses/jackgibb/newmapping/googleWMS.html)
> to Spherical Mercator and my MapServer layers aligned. But I would also
> have to serve the USGS Topo maps through MapServer (need MapServer to
> reproject) rather than TerraServer. This would slow down the map
> rendering. Also, my geocoder no longer worked. So I swicthed back to
> Geographic WGS 84.
>
> That's all,
>

One improvement would be to build an obfuscated JS lib for MapFish and
OpenLayers.
Try following https://trac.mapfish.org/trac/mapfish/wiki/HowToBuild

This helps reduce loading times.

Plus, you can take advantage of the recent offering from ExtJS for a
free CDN (Content Delivery Network)
Just replace your loading of ext-all.js and ext-all.css by those :
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://extjs.cachefly.net/ext-2.2/ext-all.js"> </script>
>
> I will be improving this over time.
One improvement would be to build an obfuscated JS lib for MapFish and
OpenLayers.
Try following https://trac.mapfish.org/trac/mapfish/wiki/HowToBuild

This helps reduce loading times.

Plus, you can take advantage of the recent offering from ExtJS for a
free CDN (Content Delivery Network)
Just replace your loading of ext-all.js and ext-all.css by those :
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://extjs.cachefly.net/ext-2.2/ext-all.js"> </script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"
href="http://extjs.cachefly.net/ext-2.2/resources/css/ext-all.css" />

The announcement has been made here :
http://extjs.com/blog/2008/11/18/ext-cdn-custom-builds-compression-and-fast-performance/

> The one big problem is the

Hello Group,

I am trying to use google's geocoder in
http://216.93.173.156/MFdemo/search.html. I am trying to use my code
from http://reservepits.rthicksconsult.com.

The form allows the user to enter either an address or lat/long. I have
been reading the forums at ExtJS but still cannot figure out how to
submit the form (this may be an issue for the ExtJS group, but I thought
this group will have a better idea how ExtJs integrates with OL and
MapFish).

If I understand correctly you don't really want to submit the form
when the user does "Submit" but send a geocode request instead.

Your button config could be something like that:

{
    text: "Submit",
    handler: function() {
        var values = formPanel.getForm().getValues();
        ggeocoder(values.address);
    }
}

Cheers,

Found the problem. It is not the code. Both Ext.onReady and <body
onload=init()> works.

It is my laptop computer and FireFox 3.0.4. And I just wiped my HD and
upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10. My laptop is also running Windows XP in a
virtual machine. In the virtual machine IE7 fully renders the map an
FF 3.0.4 renders the map halfway.

Furthermore, I was at the office today and tested the maps on two
computers, one running Windows XP as host and another another computer
running Windows XP has host and Ubuntu 8.10 in a virtual machine. All
office computers fully rendered the maps if FF 3.0.4 and IE7.
Got the map to render completely in IE7. Still having issues in FF3. I
added this to the style section

    html, body {
        font: normal 12px verdana;
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0;
        border: 0 none;
        overflow: hidden;
        height: 100%;
    }

Added and id to the components in the Viewport. It made no difference.
Then I removed all the viewports in the west panel. The map still did not
render completely if FF3.

Do you use Ext.onReady? If so try using <body onload=init()> instead.

Partially Solved.

Got the map to render completely in IE7. Still having issues in FF3.
I added this to the style section

html, body {
font: normal 12px verdana;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
border: 0 none;
overflow: hidden;
height: 100%;
}

Added and id to the components in the Viewport. It made no
difference. Then I removed all the viewports in the west panel. The
map still did not render completely if FF3.

I got the WMS legend working. This is what I did

Removed the following from test.html:

var tree = new mapfish.widgets.LayerTree({map: map, el: 'west',
showWmsLegend: true});
tree.render();

And added

showWmsLegend:true

as follows:

...
items: [{
contentEl: 'west',
title: 'Layer Tree',
border: false,
xtype: 'layertree',
showWmsLegend: true,
map: map
},
...

Still working on the map not rendering completely in the center panel.
When I remove the west panel, the map completely renders (with the
toolbar in place). I also added id's. Hmm...still debugging.
Hi Andrew

I have combined the following MapFish examples into one template:

Tree widget automatically generated from OpenLayers map
(http://demo.mapfish.org/mapfishsample/1.0/examples/tree/)
A map in a complex layout (2)
(http://demo.mapfish.org/mapfishsample/1.0/examples/map/layout.html)
A map with a toolbar
(http://demo.mapfish.org/mapfishsample/1.0/examples/map/toolbar.html)

When I try to apply the tree widget generated from OpenLayers into the map
in a complex layout (see http://216.93.173.156/MFdemo/test.html), the
following problems occur:

The symbology does not render. The symbology renders in my development map
(http://216.93.173.156/MFdemo/OL_tree.html).
An extra layer tree appears. In FF3, you will notice a blue line below the
"Water Wells" group. In IE7, this blue line is an entry for the first WMS
layer listed in c2orgCreateMap.js. And when I delete isBaseLayer from the
WMS layer, the layer remains a base layer.

You indeed have two layer trees: the one you create with "new
mapfish.widgets.LayerTree" and another oneby xtyp'ing to "layertree"
the first item of the west panel. You must either create a component
instance yourself or let Ext create it for you using xtype. See?
Fixing this may solve your symbology issue, come back if not.

Only half of the map renders. Once the browser is resized, scale is
changed, or base layer is selected, the map will render to the full extent
of the viewport.

I hate this one. As I said try adding an id to every component within
your viewport. I've seen cases where that solved the problem. No
guarantee! IIRC François also mentioned that this may come from the
toolbar, have you tried removing it from the map panel and see if that
fixes the issue?

If I understand correctly you don't really want to submit the form
when the user does "Submit" but send a geocode request instead.

Your button config could be something like that:

{
    text: "Submit",
    handler: function() {
> (http://demo.mapfish.org/mapfishsample/1.0/examples/map/toolbar.html)
>
> When I try to apply the tree widget generated from OpenLayers into the map
> in a complex layout (see http://216.93.173.156/MFdemo/test.html), the
> following problems occur:
>
> The symbology does not render. The symbology renders in my development map
> (http://216.93.173.156/MFdemo/OL_tree.html).
> An extra layer tree appears. In FF3, you will notice a blue line below the
> "Water Wells" group. In IE7, this blue line is an entry for the first WMS
> layer listed in c2orgCreateMap.js. And when I delete isBaseLayer from the
> WMS layer, the layer remains a base layer.

You indeed have two layer trees: the one you create with "new
mapfish.widgets.LayerTree" and another oneby xtyp'ing to "layertree"
the first item of the west panel. You must either create a component
instance yourself or let Ext create it for you using xtype. See?
Fixing this may solve your symbology issue, come back if not.

> Only half of the map renders. Once the browser is resized, scale is
> changed, or base layer is selected, the map will render to the full extent
> of the viewport.

I hate this one. As I said try adding an id to every component within
your viewport. I've seen cases where that solved the problem. No
guarantee! IIRC François also mentioned that this may come from the
toolbar, have you tried removing it from the map panel and see if that
fixes the issue?
>>> you experiencing this?
>>>
>>> Try giving your Ext components ids. Patrick suggested this one to me a
>>> while back, and it's solved weird issues I've had with Ext.
>>>
>>> You can also try replacing Ext.onReady with a <body onload=> handler.
>>> Ext.onReady seems to cause problems in FF3 on certain cases.
>>>> Hello Group:
>>>>
>>>> I finally got a basic template built with toolbars, printing, layer
>>>> tree
>>>> (http://216.93.173.156/MFdemo/test.html).  Now when I initialize the
>>>> map, the map only loads halfway down the center (map) viewport and the
>>>> center viewport extends down into the south viewport (because I added
>>>> the toolbar). But when I collapse any viewport, the map renders
>>>> correctly.
>>>>
>>>> I think the cause is related to the tbar: toolbar as defined in the
>>>> center viewport. But not sure. I tried adjusting the height and
>>>> MaxSize of the viewports, but that did not help. Any ideas what might
>>>> be causing this?

Yes, I guess this would be feasible.
You'd have to add some code inside the widget's requestSuccess() method
in order to feed the store related to indicator's combo.

But you'd miss the ability to give them a display name. May not be a big
the indicators dropdown list.
