I just installed the new mesa and I get some 3d stuff. Unfortunately,
compiz loads but I get a completely white screen. I ran it under a
xinit session and was able to see an error about unable to create
drawable and there was no 8 bit glx something.

You are right about fixing the dma issue though. In the morning I'll
create a bug and attach my xorg log file and see if that offers up
some clues.

Thanks!
> Does Mdv noticed there is a huge lack o manpower ?

I do think they already noticed that. You blame them because they don't
> Petition are easy to do, and will give to anyone who signed it the
> feeling they tried to help.
>
> But it remind just a small question: mandriva is stoping some contract
> because the society cannot paid them for the work they does, so, if
> the compagny cannot, who will paid them ?
>

Does Mdv noticed there is a huge lack o manpower ?

With such attitude quality of distro will downgrade drastically. Does
mdv expect that someone will take care of LAMP stack just to kill some
free time ?

What's most lamentable is that no one for mdv management participates
in community "life", on forums, ml or even irc. This would be really
easier to understand these lay-off if some one would write a poem with
clarification about current situation of mdv as a company. lack of
communication. If i remember correctly long time ago mdv was about to
turn for community, to be closer etc. Who noticed this ?

Anyways why i should care, probably all supporters do the same thing
when mdv reach the bottom, they will change distro.

> I don't think they will continue to work 8H a day for free and live of
> "fresh water and love".
>
> Who is ready to paid them ?...
>
> if mandriva keep them, but they must more work on projects for which
> mandriva get money (eg, not the free distro), who is ready to take
> maintainance of their packages, software or community related work
> (as contributor of course) ?
>

What are these projects? CS, Powerpack ? Which are based as so you
called "free distro".

> This does not mean I am happy to see such depatures, because this just
> mean mandriva is in troubles.

I have a severe issue with MDKONLINE (the applet that notifies of when
package updates are available and will then install them on request) in
2009.0. When it detects that there are package updates, presumably in
updates, it wants to install all updates even packages that are not
installed, and will not allow any to be deselected. It makes no
difference whether or not the uninstalled package is a dependency or
not. The prime example of this is firefox. I do not have it installed,
but mdkonline wants to apply it as an update. If I run rpmdrake, and
display 'All Updates', I can unselect firefox and install the rest of
the real updates without any problems. Hence why does MDKONLINE not

I just updated to the lastest cooker and now compiz-fusion is
complaining about no GLX and set faulting. I'm using an intel video
card. Any ideas or does compiz need to be rebuilt for the new X and I
should just wait?

Thanks

> Hello.
>
> I hesitated going public with this due to a number of reasons not worth
> bothering you about. The bottom line is that I as with Adam got my contract
> cancelled, this will take effect the 31st of december. Yeah, me too(tm).
>
> I've been contributing since 1999 I think and has been contracted by Mandriva
> for about four years now. It's been a fun ride and I'm going to miss it. It
> has been a pleasure cooperating with people from all over the world. Some of
> you I met in person on various occasions. I want to take the oppurtunity to
> thank you all, you know who you are.
>
> Someone, or a couple of people will get their hands full (or not) maintaining
> the 1200+ source rpm packages I currently maintain. This is mostly server
> related stuff. For example the (L)AMP stack, to my knowledge the most complete
> on the planet, constantly growing and alive.
>

:-O

Seems incredible for me that Mandriva kicks a dev that is really active,
maintains a lot of packages and fixes a lot of bugs really quickly when
possible (and he is also kind with reporters)

Other stupid decision

What plans does new CEO have for making Mandriva "work" after kicking
developers and people who interacts with community?

Really sad to see how Mandriva will collapse if more of these wrong
decisions will be taken again
