Making a forum read only

I have a had a few forums created here because of Sourceforge mailing lists I manage - one of these lists has been created as read only (opensta-announce), I would prefer it if all the others were also read only as these lists are actually only postable by list members and posting through Nabble is circumventing this chosen policy.

How do I get a Forum set to read only?

Hi,

To change posting policy, our admin must make the change after it's set up. I'll forward this to him and it shold be done shortly.

Thanks - that's opensta-users and opensta-devel I would like to be read only on Nabble.com ... and it looks like it has already been done!

Great Service, Cheers,
/dan

It looks like these forums have reverted to a read/write state - could they please be put back to read-only.

Thanks

I wonder if you really need this. You can try posting through Nabble to an opensta list. Nabble will prompt you to subscribe to the list to become a member first. If the user does not subscribe and confirm his subscription, his post will be rejected like any non-members. So Nabble conforms with the members-only policy.

But please let me know if you do want all the lists to become read-only.

I would really like the OpenSTA SF mailing lists to be read only through Nabble.

Thanks

Sorry about this.  Although the opensta-users forum appears to be read-only it didn't stop this post:
  http://www.nabble.com/Re%3A-Synchronized-Requests-and-Threads-for-differentvitual-users-p5720905.html
being made from here, not sure how.

The upshot is that the post appears in Nabbles archives and not on the actual list.  I really am not sure about the whole ability of posts made here to appear in the archives here immediately, before they have got onto a potentially moderated list (one of the reasons I asked for my forums to be made read-only) it just doesn't seem right ... like you are almost running an alternative forum to the ones you are archiving?

Sorry. This is indeed a mistake. I didn't get the read-only set up correctly. The result is that users cannot start new thread there, and the forum will show as read-only, but they can still reply to an existing post. I have already corrected that. Go to the same post, and you should see that the "reply" link is disabled.

The post is shown to be pending on Nabble. The user will receive email alert reminding him to fix it. By fixing it, the archive and the list will be in synch again. But in your particular case, there is no way he will be able to fix it. I will send him an email asking him to delete that post and resend via email.
