<a href="http://www.macports.org/" target="_top" rel="nofollow">MacPorts</a>, formerly called DarwinPorts, is a free/open source software project to simplify installation of other free/open source software on the Mac OS X and Darwin operating systems.
<br>It allows the installation of a number of packages by simply entering the command <b>port install packagename</b> in the Terminal, which will then download, compile and install the requested software, while also installing any required dependencies automatically.

</div><br>The buildnicevalue definitely has the intended effect for me, during
<br>the build phase. When I use buildnicevalue, I can see this in my CPU
<br>meter in the menubar (MenuMeters), and I can feel an increase in
<br>system responsiveness. I am using Tiger.
<br><br>So my question is whether it would help anything to also run the
<br>configure phase nicely, not just the build phase.
<br><br><br>There are ports for which the buildnicevalue will not take effect --
<br>specifically ports that replace build.cmd with something that
<br>contains a space.

It looks like Guido Soranzio (gui_dos at macports dot org) first

<br>they have any guidance. But since they are not listed as the
<br>maintainer, perhaps they are not able to answer such questions. If
<br>you would like to investigate what needs to be done to fix it (talk
<br>with the authors of the software, or their support list if they have
<br>one), please feel free to report back your findings so that the port
<br>can be improved. If you can supply a patch to fix the port, or to add
<br>separate ports for the plugins, if that's appropriate, even better.

<br>The problem is that the main makefile doesn't handle the additional

Hello all,
<br><br>I have two problems.
<br><br>1) I installed the new perl 5.8.9 and now a port I used to install (one of
<br>my own - sympa) says it won't install because DB_File is not found. Was
<br>that included in perl 5.8.8?
<br><br>2) Then I tried to port DB_File and I get:

<br> installed on your system when you installed the gtk2 update and then ran

<br><br> The randr warning is more of a notification than anything else... it just
