Mac OSX 10.5.5 OpenOffice 2.4.0 and 2.4.1

My wife has Mac OSX 10.5.5. About three weeks ago I loaded OpenOffice
2.4.0 onto her machine and OO worked. She did Apple Updates and last
week OO stopped working. When she tries to start it or open a document
it puts up the following bash prompt:

        bash-3.2$

We downloaded OO 2.4.1 and it gets the same result when trying to
install. We re-loaded X11 from the Apple Install Disk. The disk contains
X11 2.1.1 and says it pertains to xorg-server 1.3.0 applet.

Since OO broke after doing Apple Update I assume that OSX now has some
behavior which OO does not expect.

What is the ETA for a fix? OO 2.4.2?

Thanks,
Mark

The newest Mac OS X Leopard update 10.5.5 causes problems with X11
There is a work around.
X11 Time out solution:
http://shaunmcdonald131.blogspot.com/2008/03/ooo-possible-fix-for-command-timed-out.html
Also you may need to install latest X11 from
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/Releases

A simpler solution that I highly recommend is to install OO.o 3.0.
Release candidates are available now. The final release is out in a week
or two.

Judging from the other responses here and the lack of response on the
OOo website my guess is there are no plans to fix 2.4.1.  Every
inquiry on this list about 2.4.1 being broken by the latest OSX update
has be answered by telling people to down load the latest Beta version
of Aqua which is 3.0rc3 at the moment you can find it on the OOo web
site but it is easier to fine here.

http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/3.0.0rc3/

The English version for Intel Processors is       OOo 3.0.0rc3
MacOSXIntell Install.dmg
If you have a PPC processor you want               OOo 3.0.0rc3
MacOSXPowerPC Install.dmg

If you are looking for a different Language you need to find the one
with your language designator such as  OOo 3.0.0rc2 OSXIntel Install
af.dmg

The Final version of 3.0 is rumored to be just a few weeks away Aqua
3.0 runs native on OSX and is not dependent on X11 I have been using
it now for a couple of weeks it seems to work al lease as well as
2.4.1 used too.
