Hello Group,
I posted this before but didn't see it show on the list. (moderator?)
I just bought the eZ430-RF2500 and its sensor demo works fine on
a Win-XP laptop. My coding is done on a Win-2000 (SP4) machine and
the install failed on it.
Problem seems to be the UART driver.
Using either the sensor demo or putty tool I can't get any characters
from the device.
Installation has put following objects into the device list:
2 HID devices
1 USB Composite Device (MSP FET 430UIF)
1 COM port (COM3)
Initially I saw a driver install failure in the log:
...
Output folder: D:\Program Files\eZ430-RF2500 Sensor Monitor\drivers
Extract: 430CDC.inf... 100%
Extract: 430cdc.cat... 100%
Updating the driver...
Driver update has failed. (2000:0,5)
Installing the driver...
Output folder: D:\Program Files\eZ430-RF2500 Sensor Monitor
...
That install was run without admin rights (my default user).
I re-ran the file:
D:\Program Files\eZ430-RF2500 Sensor Monitor\drivers\430CDC.inf
with admin rights and it installed fine.
I later re-installed with admin right all over again but never
got the demo to work.
The *.inf file explicitly says t supports Win2k:
...

; MSP430 Application UART Installation file for Win2000/XP/Vista
;
; Port drivers setup
;
; Supported operating systems:
; Windows 32-bit and 64-bit
...
Does anybody have this kit working under Win2000?
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Gert
