MSP430 USART comm

Hi,

I am using MSP430F449 and I don't know much about the USART
communication.
I have communicate MSP430 and PC through RS232.

.Receive a command from PC to MSP430 and process according
 to that
.send a numerical value from MSP430 to PC
.Receive numerical values from PC and store it in the flash

How can I modify the sample program fet440_uart01_0115k.c to do the
above process.
