Education & Experience
Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or related discipline) with 5 years experience in software development, or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or related discipline) with 5 years experience in software development, Or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, with 7 years experience in software development.

Description & Key Skills Required:
• The candidate's primary responsibility will be the design and development of the Maritime Intelligence Data Layer (MIDL), a federated data layer for the enterprise. The federated data layer will provide both JDBC and web service interfaces to external applications for backend data sources.
• Backend data sources can include relational databases (usually Oracle) and external web services.
• The MIDL will be implemented using Composite Information Server. It is developed using:
o SQL views and procedures using a language based on Oracle PL/SQL.
o Web services which can be incorporated as both as published procedures and backend data stores.
• The candidate will support the definition and execution of software engineering activities within a project.
• Activities may consist of applications development, performance management, capacity planning, testing and validation, benchmarking, information engineering, and development.  
• Responsibilities include participation in the technical review/evaluation of various applications development, generation of formal presentations, and maintenance of thorough and accurate documentation.

Must Have:
• A solid understanding of RDBMS design and implementation issues include schema design, indexing and advanced SQL query capabilities (unions, inner/outer joins, soundex) is required.
• This position requires solid SQL development skills developing database views and stored procedures. Composite SQL is based on Oracle PL/SQL, so Oracle PL/SQL development skills would be appropriate.
• A basic understanding of web services (SOAP, WSDL’s) and XML schema’s is required.
• Ability to perform any/all task within the development lifecycle (design, development, unit/class testing, maintenance, documentation).
• Ability to function as part of a development team to include the use of a version control system.

Desirable Skillset:
• Some Java coding experience
