MDV 2009.0, Slow Applications and KDE

Hi all,

I've upgraded my laptop to 2009 (a fresh install) but one thing that
I'm not impressed with is the fact that some applications/files are very
slow in loading. In particular recently used files in Open Office.

As I installed with default kde, I thought that that may be where the
problem lay so installed kde3.

Now this is where the real problem lays, as when I log in there is no
choice to load kde3 in the log in dialogue box. Anyone with ideas as to
how to get that choice added to the log in dialogue?

On the login screen you should have two icons near the bottom.  One of those
allows you to choose your session.  I think it's the left-hand one.  HTH

Thats the problem Anne, its not giving me the option to choose the kde3
session along with the other options like kde4, icewm, xfce etc.

If task-kde3 isn't installed, install it.

Thats how kde3 was installed, selected task-kde3 in mcc and applied and
let it install everything that it wanted to bring with it.

How very strange.  That's exactly how I installed it, and everything's fine
here.  Sorry, I've no further ideas.
