MCP bootstrappingHello, I’m new to Animove and adehabitat, and wondering
if there is a way to perform an MCP bootstrap analysis similar to what is
available in the Animal Movement extension for Arcview 3.2. I’ve looked
through the manual and can’t find any reference to it, but see that it is
on the wish list which leads me to think that it isn’t part of the
library yet. I just wanted to check with other users to see if this is the
case, or if I am missing something. Alternatively, if anyone has any other suggestions of
software or a method that will work I’d appreciate hearing about them. Thanks in advance, Kevin Middel _______________________________________________ AniMov mailing list AniMov@... http://www.faunalia.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/animov |

Re: MCP bootstrappingHello,
We published a similar approach using cell methods here: http://www.zoo.utas.edu.au/awru/pdfpapers/Hindell%20et%20al.%202003-J.%20Appl.%20Ecol.pdf That was done using IDL, but I've since repeated it using R - the spatial classes in sp make such a thing quite simple. I'm having trouble finding the implementation in R, but it wouldn't be too hard to do. Is the ESRI extension bootstrapping the sets of trip positions, to find how many animals are required to cover a certain area, or is it bootstrapping the positions themselves within a trip? Cheers, Mike.
