Jacek, thanks a lot for this good news. Just yesterday I got my new sony and
felt a bit lost with it's excellent raw files but no lightzone for it...

Best regards - Markus

Thank you, Jacek!

Brief feedback to the group: It fired up fine on 64-bit Ubuntu on an Intel box. I'll give it a shot on the AMD-64 when I get home.

I've tried printing straight from the application (LZ 3.3 on Ubuntu 7.04) and
it seem to be broken (it adds a print to the printer's queue, but it has
the "error" status).
I remember there was a hack involving replacement of the Java runtime
environment to make older versions print so I'll try and see if that still
applies.
For what I've been able to see to the moment LZ runs nicely and is a much
appreciated christmas present. Now I just have to figure out what all those
new buttons and light things are for! :-)

Regards
Paolo

Works fine on Zenlinux 4.8. As for speed - I had strange feeling that
it works way slower than windows release but my measurmenst shown that
they work identical. Yel, LZ could be faster (but this applies to all
applications).

Here are the most important bugs I found (all of them reported about 2
weeks ago, but please check them on your setup):

luminosity based selection does not work as it should (play a bit with
the slider and then try to set all luminosities again, this do not
happen)

crop is applied by default to vertical images (they are cropeed to
size of horizontal ones), or opposite (depending on some settings)

saved jpegs do not have exif data

playing with crop (reseting it) changes the output resolution of the
image

I got a java crash when pan the image long enough in 1:1 mode using
noise reduction.

It crashes when select printing.

Ubuntu 7.10/Thinkpad R61 4GB (2GB enabled for LZ)

Re: crash at startup

One user reported crash ut startup (more or less the same as was
reported on this mailing list) but it turned out that some files got
corrupted while unpacking. If you encounter problems try to redownload
and carefully unpack the tar (command line tools give, usually, more
feedback than GUI).

Maybe this will help.

I also found that LZ 3.2 under let's say Virtulabox and 1GB of memory
given to Windows 2000 installed much more responsive than Linux
version. The hardware is exactly the same maybe there are some
problems with I/O performance under Java and as LZ uses harddrive a
lot this make Linux version slower IMHO.

I've given it a quick try on my box (Athlon 3200, 2GB RAM, Fedora 7 with
JRE 1.6.0.03 instead of bundled version) and it seems OK:

Not greatly different to 2.4. I haven't given it a full workout yet,
particularly with a raw file. Loving the new features though, particularly
the included styles.

Still, Lightcrafts just went to the top of my Company Of The Year list.

PS. Anyone know - if I purchase LZ now using the 20% discount, can I use
that RTU license for the final Linux release? Or are they planning a fresh
discount initially for the final release?
