Similar story here... initially FM/Lasso/Tenons iTools and currently
run Apache/Lasso/MySQL.

I love MySQL, but we have a legacy solution that is running on OS 9
that we need to keep in place. Basically, its a FileMaker client
merging lists onto a document sending it to a 4-Sight Fax server for
faxing. Only FM 6 with network sharing turned on (running on OS X)
will interact with Lasso and allow a client to open the hosted
database on a OS 9 machine.

Yes, we could upgrade our 4-Sight Fax software the cost would be
prohibitive.
>> Event bindings (i.e., your click event) you make to DOM elements on
>> page load only effect what's in the DOM at that particular time. If
>> you add something to the DOM later (i.e., via the load call), you
>> have
>> to make sure that events are bound to the new content at that time.
>>
>> There are several ways of doing this. You can make the binding a
>> separate function and execute it via the callback of the load
>> function, you can use recursion, you can use event bubbling, etc.
>> There are even some easy to use plugins such as LiveQuery, Listen,
>> and
>> Intercept, that will automate it for you.
>>
>> You can read more about it here: http://tinyurl.com/47ylx4
>>
>>> Hello All,
>>>
>>> I'm stuck on a jquery load call.
>>>
>>> I have it working so that when you click on a link in the left
>>> nav, it loads
>>> the content on the right.
>>> But the issue I'm having now, is that I sometimes I have a link
>>> that is
>>> loaded in the right content, that I need to load the same way the
>>> original
>>> link in the left does. Basically loading on top of itself.
>>>
>>> that is not getting processed the same way as the left nav ones.
>>> I think it's because it is in the ajax_content div.

So we wait. Considering that LJAX was introduced back in 2006... I
can only assume that it is largely ignored by LassoSoft and the
community at large. I still find it unimaginable that LJAX cant
handle such common form inputs. The fact that this has been
unaddressed for this long suggest that either no one uses LJAX, or
that no one uses forms...

One seems more likely than the other.
>>>>> in FM Pro? I am not talking about storing the files path or
>>>>
>>>> Yes, it is entirely possible, and many do that.
>>>
>>> Can you give a quick over view of how? The language guide makes no
>>> reference to it. I tried uploading an image, moving it to a
>>> each time, FM just quits out on me.
>
>Yes, just crashes. However, this application requires that FM talks
>to OS 9 machines so I am forced to use FM 6 for this particular
>I am stuck using regular FM client for testing. This may be part of

Ah, that's pretty old. FM6 was pretty unstable. We ran several applications for clients through the years that were FM6-based and crashing was a continual problem.
>>> wanted
>>> to make sure and see if others have a work around:
>>>
>>> Is it possible using Lasso to insert an image into a container field
>>> in FM Pro? I am not talking about storing the files path or
>>> executing
>>> a script to import the file, but rather doing an direct insert/add
>>> into the container field of the graphic so it is actually stored in
>>> the database.
>>
>> Yes, it is entirely possible, and many do that.
>
>Can you give a quick over view of how? The language guide makes no
>reference to it. I tried uploading an image, moving it to a permanent
>location and set the path of the image to a variable. Then I did an
>inline: - ADD to the FM database specifying the graphics path, but
>each time, FM just quits out on me.

Sorry, don't have any code handy. Your general outline sounds correct. To try and troubleshoot, I would break it down into individual tasks.

When you say "FM just quits out" do you mean that Filemaker quits entirely (crashes)?
>>
>> Is it possible using Lasso to insert an image into a container field
>> in FM Pro? I am not talking about storing the files path or
>> executing
>
> Yes, it is entirely possible, and many do that.

Can you give a quick over view of how? The language guide makes no
reference to it. I tried uploading an image, moving it to a permanent
location and set the path of the image to a variable. Then I did an
each time, FM just quits out on me.

Hello All,

I'm stuck on a jquery load call.

I have it working so that when you click on a link in the left nav, it
loads the content on the right.
But the issue I'm having now, is that I sometimes I have a link that
is loaded in the right content, that I need to load the same way the
original link in the left does. Basically loading on top of itself.

                Sample jquery javascript:
---------------------------------------------------------------------

<script type="text/JavaScript">

        $(document).ready(	function()
                {
>>> In theory, you could run OpenOffice from the command line, and use
>>> it
>>> to convert a word document to a PDF by telling OO to run a macro
>>> that
>>> does just that. There's an explanation on how to do this on
>>> http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2006/01/11/from-microsoft-to-
>>> openoffice.html
>>> More interestingly, this would work for Powerpoint files, too.
>>> You could then use the image tags (or whatever you prefer) to
>>> convert
>>> the resulting pdf to an image.
>>> Unfortunately I have never managed to get the OO command line
>>> version
>>> to work on Mac OS X, I have a funny feeling you'd get better results
>>> with CentOS or Linux.
>>> Also, a member of the LassoSoft team who shall remain anonymous did
>>> admit playing around with this kind of thing...
>>>
>>> Pier.
>>>
>> This seems to work for me on Ubuntu Hardy (you'll need to install
>> the openoffice.org-java-common package, and a printer named PDF):
>>
>> oowriter -headless -pt PDF thedoc.doc
>>
>> This creates a pdf called thedoc.doc in ~/PDF/
>>
>> I'm sure you can do pretty much the same on OS X.
>>
>> Jonathan
>>
>

Steffan Cline has a Word Doc Tag Suite that I can use to convert a
Word file to a PDF and then use Lasso's image tags to convert the PDF
to a Tiff image.

Right now, however, I am still having a hard time getting anything to
convert to a Tiff and have it readable. During the conversion, it
seems to get corrupt and made unreadable.

Maybe Neooffice can do it? IIRC it doesn't need X11, but uses OS X's

Hello Craig,

Did you find any solution to the problem? I feels sad to stop using
LJAX because of this issue.

> I believe I have identified the problem.
>
> It looks like LJAX.lassoApp does not properly handle radio,
> checkbox, or button input types.
>
> See my test page: http://www.deeptechsolutions.com/ljax/
>
> It should check to see if the input has been checked before
> returning a value. Ultimately both methods of for submission should
> produce identical [action_param] results.
>
> It think it is going to be up to LassSoft to address this.
>
> I'm just surprised this hasn't already been raised before now.

Many years ago I remember that we had some issues with a FM database

Those rules will only work in a .htaccess file, or at least in Apache that's the case. For the .conf file, you'd have to do this:

   # Lasso gets all virtual files and directories
   RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}%{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

> 1) Does -f and -d really check if the file resource exists prior to
> applying the rewrite rule, is that a valid approach?

Yes, if the URL doesn't map to a real file or real directory, then it satisfies those conditionals.

> 2) Is my rewrite rule correct?

Not if it sits inside a .conf file. It is if it sits inside of a .htaccess file (see my comments above).

> 3) Does IIS allow for URLs that do not appear to be correct, that is,
> have no extension, or will it always fail prior to passing on the
> request to lasso?

While I don't know how IIS resolves URLs, my guess is it shouldn't fail if there's a lack of extension. Could be a request for a directory that's missing the trailing slash.

> 4) Will my atbegin be processed?
>
> <?LassoScript
> define_atbegin: {
>     if:!((response_filepath -> (endswith: '.lasso')) ||
> (response_filepath->(endswith: '.lassoapp')) ||
> (response_filepath->(endswith: '.inc')) || (response_filepath ->
> (endswith: '.las')));
>         $__HTML_REPLY__ = (Include:'/app/controllers/_app.lasso');
>         abort;
>     /if;
> };
> ?>

Within Lasso? Sure, so long as Lasso actually gets the request. And note that you'll have to 404 anything you don't want to handle, such as requests for foo.gif that really don't exist.

If you still can't get it working, another option is to run Apache as a reverse proxy that performs the mod_rewrite before passing all requests off to the appropriate IIS instance, and your client can rest easy knowing that IIS is still being used as the webserver.

I continue to struggle with this, 2 days on now... its still not
working.

What I have decided to do is to create an additional web site in
Windows IIS, then to route all requests for unknown file resources
over to lasso. I am using Ionic's Isapi Rewrite Filter (http://www.codeplex.com/IIRF/
) to intercept all server requests and process rewrites as follows:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$  http://lasso.mysite.com/$1 [L]

I am not certain if that is correct, but my intention (based on
comments in this thread) is to test if there are no files and no
directories in the current URL, and if not, route that request over to
a secondary host I have setup in IIS using a different website. That
additional web site is setup with a wildcard in application mapping to
direct all requests to lasso for processing. My questions on this
though are:

1) Does -f and -d really check if the file resource exists prior to
applying the rewrite rule, is that a valid approach?
request to lasso?

4) Will my atbegin be processed?
>> Is there any way for lasso to gain access to the Apache environment
>> variables (specifically, mod_ssl related--eg.
>> $ENV{SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_Email})?
>
> Not directly. Lasso 9 may provide direct access in the future, but
> for Lasso 8.5 you'll have to put any Apache environment vars you
> want into a custom header and use [client_headers] within Lasso to
> extract the value.
>
> An example of copying an env var to a custom header within Apache:
>
>    # make sure mod_headers is loaded
>    LoadModule headers_module modules/mod_headers.so
>
> # if exists, add "SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_Email" to a custom header
> called "X-SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_Email"
>    RequestHeader set X-SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_Email %
> {SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_Email}e env=SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_Email
>
>
> You can read more about mod_headers here:

This seems to sort of work in Lasso, though Proc_Lasso only returns
the word mapType, so maybe there's a different proc I need to use to
convert the outputted data into the lasso map?

But the main issue is in trying to see if my SOAP function will work
on a php server. When I call it and it's returning a map (if I just
return an int it seems to work fine) I get the following error:

Fatal error: Uncaught SoapFault exception: [Client] No tag, type or
constant was defined under the name map->findType with arguments:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\soap.php on line 14

Has anyone worked with sending soap statements out of lasso and into
php that might have some insight on this?

Thanks!
>> this
>
> What is the difference in file size between the two? Is the

I'll see what I can do via the command line.

How much of this stuff do you have to do? Is it a couple of one-offs? Or are you doing massive amounts? If that latter, you may want to instead use a server-side dom parser and manipulate the page using it. One way is to use Rhino with jQuery:

        http://ejohn.org/blog/bringing-the-browser-to-the-server/

But assuming you just want to mod a few things, here's how I would do your example:

        var('returned') = 'Some HTML <input type="text" size="14" maxlength="14" name="new_off1_first_name" value="Old Value to Replace" id="new_off1_first_name"> More Stuff Here';

        var('SearchString')='(name="new_off1_first_name" value=")[^"]*';

        var('ReplaceWith')='\\1Bob';

        $returned=String_ReplaceRegExp($returned, -Find=$SearchString, -Replace=$ReplaceWith);

        encode_html($returned);

Returns:

        Some HTML <input type="text" size="14" maxlength="14" name="new_off1_first_name" value="Bob" id="new_off1_first_name"> More Stuff Here
