networks GmbH). The dependency on MHash was replaced by Hash (now PHP >
5.1.2). There were also several improvements for lamdaemon (e.g.
separate installation package).

You are right. This should be updated by reading the policy from the
Samba domain entry.

See lib/modules/sambaSamAccount.inc process_attributes() for the account
pages and templates/lists/changePassword.php setPassword() for the
password reset page (LAM Pro only).

samba password expiration

Since the last upgrade of lam (2.3.0) seems like behaviour for samba
password expiration (sambaPwdMustChange ldap attribute) has changed.

1) during account creation no default value is provided
I can't find a way to set it from profile editor
I think it would be useful to have a configurable initial expiration
interval in days, so it would be possibile to set it equal to the
samba policy "maximum password age" (translated to days of course)

2) if the system administrator change the password from
ldap-account-manager unix password chnage time (shadowLastChange) is
updated automatically but sambaPwdMustChange is updated only if the
value is changed manually
if I'm not wrong this is different from previous versions and it's
causing unalignment problems on our installations: unix account does not
expire while samba does

I've some customers that are using lam and they are not fully skilled
sysadmins. As of now I've solved the issue telling them to use only
windows to update the password, or to set manually samba password
expiration, but this requires one more manual step (and is prone to
error). I would like to write some patches to fix this thing or, better,
to make it configurable. Anybody can give me some pointer about where to
look in the code?

just enter the LAM configuration page (your server profile) and then
"Edit account types". There you can set the list attributes for all
account types.

In my case I want to change the user list?

For the UID and the GID I want to see the discription and the department of the user.

Where is the problem to enter the password before?

A bit tricky because different plugins need to handle the password. I

Hallo,

ich hab doch noch ein paar Verbesserungsvorschläge :-)

- Unixaccount optional machen, wie den Sambaaccount
- Kolabaccount optional machen, wie den Sambaaccount
- Unix und Shadow auf einen Tab zusammenlegen
- e-Mail Adresse aus "Persönlich" auf der Kolab seite wiederholen
so, dass man sie auch da eingeben kann.
- Bei neuen Usern nicht über fehlendes Passwort unterwegs beschweren
sondern nach dem Klick auf "Speichern" abfragen, wenn keins gesetzt ist

Das Ldap-Passwort muss unabhängig vom Unix Account sein, so, dass man auch
einen Kolab Account ohne Unixaccount anlegen kann.

Hinweis: Die Namen werden nicht so abgespeichert dass sie in Kolab 2.2.0
richtig dargestellt werden !

Hello,

if you change the lam config file, you NEVER must restart the web server
(apache) or samba etc. Change the lam config file, logout and login and
finished.

Nothing happens with your users.

Bingo Roland! That was the problem, I had 192.168.1.* in this field. I don't remember doing that, but I must've done it some time ago. Anyway, thanks very much for all your patience and help!

please check the nis.schema file. There should be some entry like this:

objectclass ( 1.3.6.1.1.1.2.2 NAME 'posixGroup'
DESC 'Abstraction of a group of accounts'
SUP top STRUCTURAL
MUST ( cn $ gidNumber )
MAY ( userPassword $ memberUid $ description ) )

If it is missing then maybe there is another schema file which includes
the right definition.

Hi Vasiliy, I just pasted your iptables commands into a shell script and ran that. Then I verified that the filter, mangle and nat tables were empty with "accept" policies, and indeed they were, but I'm still having the same behavior in my browser. But I expected that, I don't have iptables setup to do anything on my notebook anyway.

I don't believe I specified any restrictions on IP addresses, but if you tell me where to look I'll be happy to do so.

Fortunately I'm able to continue working with lam if I just don't use "localhost", this situation is really just a curious nuisance at this point. Nonetheless guys, I really appreciate the help!

Error cn is not supported in object class posixGroup

Hi

I get a objectclass violation error when I try to add a group in LAM 2.3.0.

When I run the test i get the following error: The attribute cn is not supported for the object class(es) posixGroup by your LDAP server.

This is the included schema files in slapd.conf

include         /etc/openldap/schema/core.schema
include         /etc/openldap/schema/cosine.schema
include         /etc/openldap/schema/inetorgperson.schema
#include                /etc/openldap/schema/rfc2307bis.schema
include         /etc/openldap/schema/yast.schema
include         /etc/openldap/schema/samba3.schema
include         /etc/openldap/schema/nis.schema

I guess there is some sort of schema mismatch, but it is a newly installed system which haven't been messed with. System is running openldap 2.4.9.

What is going on?

I tried your suggestion of flushing out cookies in iceweasel, but it
didn't help. But knowing that using the IP address of my laptop
explicitly worked, I tried these two tests in trying to bring up the
lam login page in the browser:

#1:
-- in /etc/hosts, localhost is mapped to 192.168.1.106 (my laptop's IP)

Add the samba.schema file which is included in the Samba tar.gz.

try deleting your cookies in the browser. Maybe there is a problem with

The only differences in the php.ini files are the changes I made to the laptop's copy, in an effort to derive some more clues. These changes are:

#1) I set "log_errors" to "On" instead of "Off"

#2) I uncommented the "error_log = syslog" line.

Other than that, the files are identical.

Yep, I added that line to the end and sure enough, "Text" appeared in the browser's window.

However, I believe the problem is buried in a configuration file somewhere, but I don't know where! I've been entering "http://localhost/lam/" to produce this problem, but today I tried "http://192.168.1.106/lam/" (using my laptop's IP address instead) and lam worked!

As I mentioned before, I'm somewhat new to LDAP and I'm trying to put my head around all the config files that are involved. Where do you think this problem is lurking?

on Fedora 9 this problem does't exist.

On FreeBSD LAM create dn
sambaDomainName=cossacksandco,dc=my-domain,dc=com

whith domain options not added through LAM for domain cossacksandco

Simple way - delete sambaDomainName=cossacksandco,dc=my-domain,dc=com
through Tree view

It's not me - I kill openldap base & I create domain COSSACKSANDCO through LAM -

May be this problem exist only in FreeBSD ?
