Konqueror embedded updated!

As I am excited to see Opie being close to be supported in Angstrom, I was
digging around Konqueror embedded webpage to see if anything new was
happening here. Well when I thought that this project was dead, I was wrong.
Work has been done on this project recently as you can see here:

I have no idea of the status of konqueror in Opie. Is it using this newest
version or an older one? How much work would that be to use the new version?

Regards,
Nicolas.

The old version (from 2003) is the only one that "works" right now. I had a go
at getting the 2007 version working, you can see some info and my results
here:

Marex had a go as well and neither of us have been very successful, but I
don't think either of us spent a great deal of time on it. With some work I
think it might be possible to get to a useful state. IMO it's certainly a
project worth pursuing if someone is willing to put the time into it :)

Cheers,
Paul

Seems promising.

According to this thread:
http://www.nabble.com/konq-e-does-not-work-with-flash-enabled-t3834804.html
the crash you were experiencing are indeed due to -fno_rtti flag:

"ISTR that you need to build konq/e and qt *without* -fno_rtti -
otherwise it will crash just as you describe."

Nicolas.

Indeed. Thanks to some more work by Marex, we've now got an almost completely
working modern browser based on these sources. Further info:

That's really a good news! I will give a try tonight.

I think this information alone would deserve to be published on the news
page of OPIE website, don't you?

IMHO, OPIE will only miss to support WPA on the Network config applet in
order to be the ultimate user friendly distro (maybe I should publish a
feature request on the bugtracker?)

Nicolas.

Too bad, this does not compiled with a fresh OE install (a bunch of warning
then error: oe_runconf not found). I can't wait to see it!

Which is exactly the sort of reason why we haven't, I would suggest :)

It still needs a bit of polishing and of course it needs to at the very least
go into OE before we'd want to should too loudly about it.

Paul

Oops, I meant "shout too loudly"...
