Hello all,

We have just released Komodo IDE and Edit 4.4.1 with a number of
important bug fixes. You can use "Help > Check for Updates..." if you
have 4.4.0 installed or alternatively download a full Komodo installer
from here:

* http://www.activestate.com/Products/komodo_ide/
* http://www.activestate.com/Products/komodo_edit/

Significant bug fixes:

* Editor: Fixed mouse wheel scroll by page (Windows).
* Fixed editing performance problems caused by the Sections List.
* SCC: Fixed slowness in updating SVN file status.
* PHP: Optimized variable sorting to speed up debugging.
* Fixed code intelligence database corruption problems which caused
autocompletion and calltips to fail.
* Fixed missing cancel button on command output window (Edit only).
* Find Toolbar: Pressing 'Enter' in the find textbox searches current
document.
* Customizations no longer lost when selecting the default keybinding
scheme.
* Fixed bug preventing server preference editing after the internal
Komodo browser had set a password entry.
* Mac OS X: Fixed crash when printing.

Full details are here:

Same here.

4.4.1 is listed as an available download in the 'my account' section
though.

I just tested this on Linux and Windows with the Komodo IDE 4.4.0
install, both of which recognized an update was available and
successfully applied the update.

It could be a few reasons why Komodo failed failed to find an update:
* the update server may have been too busy to respond to your request
* could be a Komodo caching issue (restart Komodo and try the update again)
* the update server hadn't yet updated ready at the time of your request

Let us know if this problem persists.

Thanks,
Todd

Downloaded MSI from activestate site. File was called :

Komodo-IDE-4.4.1-20896.msi

Ran installer, but now when I run komodo, it still tells me I've got
4.4.0

If I re-run the installer it asks me do I want to modify/remove the
installation, so the 4.4.1 installer thinks I've got 4.4.1, but komodo
still thinks it's 4.4.0.

So, I removed 4.4.0 completely and re-ran the 4.4.1 installer. NOW
Komodo appears to be 4.4.1 :

Komodo IDE, version 4.4.1, build 20896, platform win32-x86.
Built on Thu Jul 10 16:59:07 2008.

I did check that I wasn't running komodo from an old shortcut and could
only see one 'komodo.exe' on C:.

SCC/SVN issue is only slightly improved. took 30s for komodo to realise
that the saved file had changed. This is better than the 60s+ that I was
seeing before. I prefer the earlier behaviour (4.3 ?) whereby komodo
would realise almost immediately.

Couple of issues:

- "check for updates" did find the 4.4.1 was available, but after
downloading, "restart Komodo now" didn't do anything. I had to quit
Komodo.

- upon restarting Komodo, a window tells me the partial update
couldn't be applied, which I infer is because I'd manually patched
4.4.0, and tells me it's going to do a full download. The issue is
that this small window is subsquently hidden by the larger Komodo
window.

Hello all,

We have just released Komodo IDE and Edit 4.4.1 with a number of
important bug fixes. You can use "Help > Check for Updates..." if you
have 4.4.0 installed or alternatively download a full Komodo installer
from here:

Does update create a clean profile?
All installed extensions are not present into

$KOMODO_PROFILE_DIR\host-xxxx\XRE\extensions

Luckly macros and keybindings are migrated correctly

Incremental upgrade 4.4.0 -> 4.4.1 succeeded just fine and about says the
right things "Komodo IDE, version 4.4.1, build 20896, platform win32-x86.
Built on Thu Jul 10 16:59:07 2008."

Maybe I succeeded because I am using the eeeevil Windows version. LOL

Thanks for the update.

Scott

To install a full 4.4.x over an earlier 4.4.x you need to uninstall the
existing one before installing the new one. Granted it sucks that the
MSI installer doesn't make this clear.

The Komodo MSI for 4.4.0 and 4.4.1 (and any 4.4.x) use the same
"ProductCode" in MSI-parlance, which means that invoking the installer
package for one will work with an existing install (whatever the last
part of the version number).

No, auto-update doesn't do any profile migration. Profile migration is
handled by Komodo startup, **if necessary**.

In this case (4.4.0 -> 4.4.1) there is no new profile: your Komodo user
data dir is based on the "major.minor" version number (i.e. "4.4") hence
Komodo 4.4.0 and 4.4.1 would use the same profile dir.

Are you saying that your "$KOMODO_PROFILE_DIR\host-XXXX\XRE\extensions"
was *removed* on your system?

By 'will work', Trent means that the installer will happily install
right over the old one. The installation of Komodo you are left with
after the fact may not work at all, or at least it may be a bit confused.

The correct approach for point releases is either:

  - use the auto-update system, OR
  - uninstall the previous install and then install fresh.

Hi Scott,

That seems strange, the svn status should update within a few seconds
(it should only be operating locally).

Would you mind creating a new bug for this:
http://bugs.activestate.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=komodo

I'd like to track down what is occurring here, so please include the svn
version, repo details and your Komodo svn preference settings.

Thanks,
Todd

No, that is not what I meant, but what I said was misleading...

The "MSI will happily install over an existing install" is try when the
"major.minor" version is different. E.g.:
- The Komodo 4.4.0 MSI will happily install over a Komodo 4.3.2
installation.
- The Komodo 4.3.1 MSI will happily install over a Komodo 4.2.0
installation.

If the "major.minor" version is *the same* then invoking the MSI will
result in a dialog saying:

Another version of this product is already installed. Installation
of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing
version of this product...

This is a standard MSI thing when the ProductCode of the MSI you are
trying to install is the same ProductCode of one already installed.

I had already logged a bug, #78562 against 4.4.0, so I've just updated
the version number on it from 4.4.0 to 4.4.1 and commented about the
delays.
