I recently updated the quarks repository and I noticed that the Knob
library currently available through the quarks doesn't function.....

I use the previous versions that functions without problems,
I guess that the guy who released it (sorry I can't recall names
easily...) is aware of that? Probably sth during the update didn't
worked as it should...

I don't know if this is the same thing, but when i try to use the SCKnob
in the UI manager an error pops up. The class definition is empty...
something happened to the knob ?

SCKnob has never existed.

A while back Knob (the quark) appeared in the views construction palette.
Today Knob is not a subclass of SCView but a wrapper. This is why Knob
is not recognized as a legit view and doesnt appear in the
construction window anymore.

Perhaps new versions of the view constructor will allow adding custom
views to the palette (remove some stock less used ones would be kewl
as well).

The Knob quark still includes the old version.
This is found in a directory named 'test' inside the Knob quark folder.
if you are inclined to the old behavior, I would suggest exchanging
the files, all of them. Recompile the lib and test the results.
This will bring the old knob back and it will appear again in the
views construction palette.

please note that its been a while I dont test the old code in the new
SC builds and even when It should work fine, I would still recomend
sticking to the new version.

cheers,

x

I'm planning a new installation that requires data from marine
instruments using the NMEA specification. Does anyone have experience
of reading NMEA in SC or have any comments about the feasibility of
this?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NMEA_0183

Thanks in advance,
john
