Jack problem
Sorry for the silly question.......
I'm using Linux Ubuntu 8.04. I just discovered Rosegarden. As soon as I started the program this sign came up..... If you want to be able to play or record audio files or use plugins, You should exit rosegarden and start Jack server before running rosegarden again. Any ideas? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW! Info about the jack-audio-server: http://jackaudio.org/ do: apt-get install jackd jack-tools qjackctl then: stop all other sound-applications and audio-servers run qjackctl setup jack server for your audio device start jack server start rosegarden maybe you'll have to install some plugins (there are different types of plugins: dssi | ladspa | lv2 ), in order to use them example: apt-get install dssi-host-jack wsynth-dssi maybe you'll have to add this to /etc/security/limits.conf : @audio - rtprio 78 @audio - memlock 400000 @audio - nice -10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW! You might need to hit "ubuntustudio-audio-plugins" too, and perhaps you have to install the -rt kernel manually as well. It's been a long time since I did this. Then you'll want to reboot, and make sure you pick the kernel with -rt in it. Finally, before starting Rosegarden, run QJackCtl and piddle around with it until JACK is up and running smoothly. (Defaults usually work for most people, so you could try just hitting the start button right away.) I'm afraid I'm in a bit of a rush this morning, so I have to cut it off there, and don't have time to get into real detail. -- D.
