Jabber capable bots.

I read through the list archives and there was some talk a couple of
years back regarding jabber capable ALICE bots.  Nothing substantive or
working.

I then took a look at Howie which has jabber support but has been
unmaintained for nearly four years.

Can anyone give me a pointer to other potential ALICE implementations
that contain jabber/xmpp support?

Simon:

My research group has been playing around with Program D's implementations:

http://aitools.org/Main_Page

We are also looking at building our own java api to facilitate this
since there are many projects out there that look to have started down
the Java XMPP trail, but, as you found, there seems to be a stoppage in
development.

How do you find it?  I notice they seem to support all the closed IM
networks but not the only open one :(

Yes, I'm not sure why?  It's seems the most logical way to interact with
a bot.  Good luck.  I'm waiting with baited breath.
