Hi, everyone.

I have just installed Debian etch on a HP-Compaq C737BR laptop.
Everything is working fine, except that Debian has not recognized my
video driver (Intel Graphics X3100). Because of this, I'm using a
1024*768 video resolution, but my monitor is widescreen and the image
is not really good... Does anyone know how can I solve this problem?
I'll attach my xorg.conf file.

On the "Device" section, I've tried to change the driver parameter to
"intel" and then to "i810", but the X server did not even started.

Hope you guys have some light to show me.

If you want to stick with etch, install the 915resolution package and
follow the debian.readme. If you can/want to switch to testing, use the
xorg-video-intel driver.

Hi,

You might just want to wait a little bit, so EtchAndAHalf[1] is released.
If you feel like _testing_ those updated drivers for Etch, you can
Beta-test stable-proposed-update[2].

@ Jack, Franklin:

Thanks a lot for your tips, guys. :)

Anyway, I've tried 915resolution, but it didn't work. :/ I guess I'll
need to wait *EtchAndHalf* to be released. This site
<http://wiki.debian.org/EtchAndAHalf> says it'll be release together
with Debian 4.0 r04 (does anyone have any idea when the stable version
will be released?).

Weird. Used to work for me. Any useful output?
To reach 1280x800 on my laptop I used mode 5c.

@ Jack:

This was the output when I tried to use 915resolution:

$ Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.2
$ Intel chipset detected.  However, 915resolution was unable to
$ determine the chipset type.
$ Chipset Id: 2a008086
$ Please report this problem to stomljen@...

I sent an e-mail to 915resolution's developer, but he has not returned yet.
