I just installed OpenBSD4.3 on a sparc20 workstation using the install
CD sparc distribution. Everything installed and works fine so far. I
then also installed the ports in /usr/ports and was able to install
mysql using the make install in the ports directory.
I am now trying to install java jdk or jre and a tomcat server so that
I can configure and run a tomcat webapp that I wanted to get up and
running on the machine. The machine has only about 292 MB of RAM
installed and an 8 GB disk. I tried installing the jdk and tomcat
using the ports and it compiled for about a day and then crashed.
Is it possible to install the jdk on this system and can anyone
provide instructions on how to get a tomcat server up and running.
BTW, I was able to get Dillo running so I have a web browser and it
looks like Amaya installed somewhere along the process. I tried
installing a firefox browser and no joy with that either. I do have X
windows installed and that is working. I am interested in running a
different window manager such as AfterStep, NextStep or BlackBox. Any
help there also?
