Hi all..
I have a requirement for sensor/control nodes that measure
temperature, RH, and fan speed inside IT server racks.
There can literally be hundreds of these racks in a data center.
All this data needs to be collected & made available to the IT guys
that run these data centers.
The Sensor data is pretty simple (maybe 8 parameters 2bytes each) but
there may end up being a bi-directional requirement where the
sensor/control nodes will need some set-up by the IT guy (like to set
a temperature alarm point or such).
My limited networking knowledge is telling me that CAN (or possibly
CANOPEN) might make a good Fieldbus choice, as it seems there are lots
of choices addressing the Ethernet connection requirement.
I'm looking for opinions about using CAN for this type of network
deployment, and advice on any "pre-canned" solutions that might help
me with this application.
