IR Film Options

While I doubt any of the ramaining IR films give
nearly the remarkable effect of Kodak's HIE, I am
curious to read list members opinions of the remaining
available IR films. I know of three - Efke 820C,
Rollei 820c, and Ilford SFX200.

I have tried one roll of the Rollei and found it to be
very similar to some of the contrasty B/W films like
Ilford HP5 - nice, but very different from HIE. Was my
initial opinion of the Rollei correct, or should I try
more? I used a #25 Red filter - perhaps I should try a
darker or opaque filter?

Jimmy

..Hi Jimmy,

To get an decent IR effect with Rollei film use a 89b filter, with a 25
or 70 filter the effect is absent/limited.

To see an example (well actually it is made with a new prototype IR film
made for MACO, but this negative was identical to the Rollei negative
which I shot at the same time) The Rollei film was exposed 2 ASA faster.

Also note that it is a contact print with an alternative process:

Anyway see home.casema.nl/cordieuwke/Cuprotype.html.

Best,

Cor
