Howto apply realtime patch to kernel

I have an OEM product that uses your Basix 400-xm-bt motherboard. It is running the 2.6.21-r1 kernel. I need to apply the -rt8 patch to support real-time Java. What do I have to do? I am thinking of Sun's RTSJ based api. For the base Java SDK, I am assuming that any of the recommended J2SE 1.5 stacks from your website would do the trick.
