How to use Egroupware with PHP4 ?

When installing egroupware, I get several error (pear, etc) because of my version of PHP.
For some reason, it is impossible for us to install PHP5.

in the documentation, it is written Other basic requirements are php 5 (you can find problems using php 4, so please try to upgrade first)

Is there a way to use egroupware anyway? Or do you advise me to use another similar software that can be used easily in a PHP4 environment?

I am running the current stable under PHP4 on CentOS 4, but some things don't

work like webdav.
