I, am trying to solve non linear transient analysis of a Cabin structure using Abaqus/Standard as dynamic implicit case. The type of loading I want to consider here is impact. The cabin structure is constrained at four corners in the bottom and a pressure load is applied to the side(lateral) face of the cabin to simulate the impact in case of equipment rollover. The load applied is considered to vary from 0 to 1.15MPa from 0 to 0.4secs time duration. To determine the integration time step I carried out modal analysis and found that the 3rd mode shape was matching with the deflection that would be induced when load is applied on the side face. so I took the frequency of that mode shape and calculated integration time step using formula ITS=1/20f where f is the frequency of the desired mode shape. After running the analysis the stresses were found to be localised only on the face where the load was applied giving erraneous values. Can any one tell me where I have gone wrong or is the method adopted by me to decide the integration time step correct?
