How many AVR users on the PIClist?May I have a quick show of click and send from those of you who have or are
interested in the AVR processors? mailto:jamesnewton@...?subject=I_AVR&body=type%3A%0Dsite%3A%0Dcode%3 A And if you have a second, include the type of AVR you use, your favorite related web site (especially if you have one) and, for the very nice, copy and paste your best example of AVR code. If I get enough response, I may be able to build a good code library, which seems to be missing from other AVR related sites. Finally, I would really like to suggest that anyone who uses the PICList, and is in the process of posting a question to one of the many AVR support forums, please also take the few extra seconds to post the question here as well with "[AVR] " at the start of the subject? I think we will be surprised and how useful the PICList can be for AVR questions. --- James Newton: PICList webmaster/Admin mailto:jamesnewton@... 1-619-652-0593 phone http://www.piclist.com/member/JMN-EFP-786 PIC/PICList FAQ: http://www.piclist.com P.S. for my motivation in posting this, please see my other post with subject "[OT] Death of a PICList?" -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |

Re: How many AVR users on the PIClist?Hi James,
My reply keeps getting bounced. The mailto - subject doesn't work with gmail & even if I enter "I_AVR" in manually as the subject I still get bounced. Is "I_AVR" the correct subject to get past your filter? Re: How many AVR users on the PIClist?Hi James -
Are you aware of the Procyon library at http://hubbard.engr.scu.edu/avr/avrlib/ ? It has a good selection of code for i/o, peripherals etc. David James Newton, Host wrote: >May I have a quick show of click and send from those of you who have or are >interested in the AVR processors? > >mailto:jamesnewton@...?subject=I_AVR&body=type%3A%0Dsite%3A%0Dcode%3 >A > >And if you have a second, include the type of AVR you use, your favorite >related web site (especially if you have one) and, for the very nice, copy >and paste your best example of AVR code. > >If I get enough response, I may be able to build a good code library, which >seems to be missing from other AVR related sites. > >Finally, I would really like to suggest that anyone who uses the PICList, >and is in the process of posting a question to one of the many AVR support >forums, please also take the few extra seconds to post the question here as >well with "[AVR] " at the start of the subject? Re: How many AVR users on the PIClist?I use AVRs (don't really use PICs any more apart from for work due to
inertia there), but don't feel any need to post AVR specific questions here - IME the forum at http://www.avrfreaks.net/ is great. James, Tried to send you the above email but it was rejected as spam! Anyway, we use the Mega128 in a few different products, and hardly use PICs anymore apart from one product with high end 18F series (that will likely be ported to a new platform in the near future). In comparison to the PICs we have used, the AVR is faster, less buggy and the WinAVR GCC port is mature enough to produce some reasonable code. HELP! AC162053 header for pic16f627a problemsHard time getting debugger to execute code from reset instead of just stepping through it.
reinitialize every thing I can thing of and it finally executes code up to about 0x11A then it reverts back to just stepping through program like it was just nops. (mplab 7.6) Using pic's since 1990 mostly small chips have two icd-2 swapped, no effect. 1st time using header/pic16f627a but used icd-2 with pic16f913 and others with no problem. Did tie RA1 to ground in target board. HELP! Ray -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |

Re: HELP! AC162053 header for pic16f627a problemsHi Ray,
I don't have access to any of my headers or notes right now but I do have a question for you. Are you using the MCLR line as I/O or as MCLR? I seem to recall that it needs to be MCLR and pulled up when using the ICD-2. I'll check into it further tonight but I'm getting slammed at work right now. I always use external MCLR, just for debugging. It looks like defective AC162053 from feedback I am getting from microchip. The ICD does other clever things through its extra dedicated interface pins to reset the chip when required. I am not sure that it doesn't take the VPP pin out as well. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |

Re: HELP! AC162053 header for pic16f627a problemsIt turns out mplab auto range of program memory to program got it wrong
debugger/settings/program/program memory start-end "Allow ICD 2 to select memories and ranges" got it wrong! end was short, had to manual adjust.
